Any ex-MAGAs willing to share that mindset?

MAGA ≠ Republicans

Plz explain

Who really cares?! The majority of the country voted for Trump and he won. Can we please move forward?

Not anywhere close. He didn’t even have the majority of the votes.

Yes, he did. Please tune in to reality.

The AP has Trump at 50% and he has received 2.4 million+ more votes than Harris

Look up the word "majority." He and Kamala were not the only candidates in the race.

And of the votes cast, he received the majority of them. How can you not understand this?

Ok, then yes, half the country is a cult,
Including your republican neighbors who told you they aren’t voting for Trump. They did. So did many of your other friends and family.

I don't have a Republican daughter.
No friends that voted for Trump.
One family member.- And that is precisely why I won't stop talking about the dangers of Maga.
Also it's a myth that half the country voted for Trump.

I guarantee that a number of the people who you think didn't vote for Trump did. That’s why the polling has been so unreliable, people are keeping quiet about it.
My own husband doesn’t know that I voted for Trump.

If you are that ashamed of your vote, maybe that should have been your wake-up call?

They are just tip toeing around this obviously nutty poster who assumes all her friends didn’t vote for Trump. Sometimes it just isn’t worth engaging with someone but doesn’t mean you’re willing to walk away from the relationship entirely.

Not everybody who voted for Trump is in the cult. MAGA is, though. We’ll see what happens going forward given Trump’s poor health and old age.

Still waiting on someone to explain maga vs republican.

Me too. I'm not sure there's a difference at this point, MAGA is the GOP. until firmly ousted by the GOP

Republicans who did not vote for Trump are not MAGA or in a cult. Republicans who are loyal to the party and country over Trump are not maga. Republicans who support him only because they are being bribed or blackmailed by Trump are not maga (and I believe there are many).

lol ok if maga means we are republicans who voted for Trump, then I guess we all are maga, plus a lot of democrats and independents too. Whatever. Feel free to ask us policy questions but drop the cult accusations, yall sound unhinged. People aren’t in a cult because they believe different things than you do in terms of the role of government in our lives.

She's a vapid loser. She had to pay people to perform at her rallies and appear on shows w/Sharpton. Maybe people should have, it might have worked.

But to the PPs point no other presidential
Candidate has people in trucks with images of another president hog tied in the back or huge flags- trump is different.

But the progressives do wear their own identifying garments (keffiyeh), have their chants and special language, and are as intolerant as the MAGA.

There are two cultist groups in this country now, but because this is DCUM the progressive cultists don’t see their own cult.
Those progressives are HS teenagers and college age who are expressing youth rebellion. They will grow out of it. The Trump cultists are middle age grown adults.

A man at my workplace wore a shirt TO WORK that said "Protect Trans Youth". That's not cultist?

Who exactly is the leader of this protect trans youth cult? There isn’t one. You can’t just call everything you don’t agree with a cult. Maga is a cult because they have a leader whom they bow down to and can do no wrong in their eyes.

There is no "leader" requirement to be considered a cult. A cult refers to religious worship or an enthusiastic devotion to a person, idea or thing. (Go look up the definition). So you can stop with your "there is no leader" nonsense.

Because he didn't. He received a plurality of the votes cast (49.83%) but *not* a majority.

AP has Harris+Kennedy+Stein total at 75.9 mil and Trump has 76.9 mil, making Trump the majority winner of votes. No matter it is semantics- he won. Many many people don’t want democratic policies and they aren’t in a cult.

The problem is, I don’t know of ANY former MAGAs. That’s the scary part. Sure, I know of republicans who didn’t vote for him this time. But I am talking about the full-on MAGA folks. The rally goers, insurrectionists, folks with Trump tattoos, etc. The ones who can’t see any fault in anything he does. Nobody seems to leave this cult.

So, if you are out there, please share. What was your mindset? How/why were you able to dismiss everything he has done? What happened to finally change your mind? Any suggestions on how to help our friends/relatives see the light? Any insight would be much appreciated!

To those of you who are about to call me dramatic for calling it a cult…when you are in a cult, you don’t know you are in a cult.

There are many roads and streets lined with trash. You would be doing something useful picking up the trash rather than your mental wandering.

My god - this + infinity. Should apply to 99% of the insane threads on this forum.

You guys are simply not understanding. It stopped being about politics and government a long time ago. Trump is a terrible person. A monster. He ruins lives. He is a crook, sexual predator, bigot, con man. The fact that you can’t see the MOUNTAINS of evidence to prove each of these things - that’s what points to you being in a cult.

It is not about republicans vs democrats anymore. There are plenty of republicans who would be fine in the White House. I wouldn’t agree with most of their policies, but we can bounce back from bad policies. Trump is going to dismantle everything this country was founded on. We can’t recover from that.

Yep. Remember how republicans always claimed to be the party of small government and family values? They can no longer even pretend to be either of those things.

It is indeed sad that the Democrats were so bad that a man as terrible as Trump was preferable, yes.

And after J6, they really toned down their claim to “back the blue” as well. Trump has really outed the hypocrisy of the GOP. Turns out, most of their voters don’t actually care about those things though.
