Yes, we know. It does not mean that the vast majority of Asians who are arbitarily getting rejected are not better candidates in all ways - acdemics, ECs, personality, social contribution, full pay etc - than other r students who get admitted. Blocking Asian students primarily benefit White students. Still, the Asian students end up being successful in life and they add to the generational wealth and network. So, in the end, Asians are showing that Ivy is not the end all of college education. |
im asian and i dgaf about this. Having a chip on your shoulder will not serve you or your kid well in this process. Or in life. |
that's not how I'd define success tbh. Same for my kids. |
Just went to Admityogi.
Featured kid (Asian last name) on landing page at Stanford (class of 2028) self-describes as: "speed-skater, violinist and gardener and budding economist" |
Wow, ivy material, right there. |
Ok. I was just pointing out that median incomes at Ivy and Ivy+ schools are much higher than basically all state schools. Median incomes throws out barbell people. |
It does show there are Asians that love the game as much as anyone and don’t care about Asians that don’t want to play. |
No chip on the shoulder here. We are doing very well, thank you very much! What is important is to have a strategy in place and a very clear-eyed awareness of what roadblocks are there and how to circumvent them to reach your own goals. How not to miss the forests for the trees. |
It's the Asians playing this game. They are the ones doing weird hobbies to apples to AOs. |
*to appeal
The only thing white people are doing more than Asians are sports. Asians are doing origami, ukulele, circus and the rest of the junk mentioned here. |
DC is taking a gap year and performing in a Broadway musical.
Middling SAT. DC applying to college now. We'll see. |
??HUH?? We belong to the richest racial group in US. All of us are playing the game and playing it better than any other group. Ivy or not Ivy,. No one I know in my ethnic group is poor in US. |
White people are doing better in team sports popular in US. Asians actually perform better in swimming, golf, gymnastics etc. Because these are sports where individual performance matters and Asians do not get blocked by their coaches or other parents. |
So, tell all the immigrant parents (who aren’t wealthy) to figure it out. You aren’t the ones complaining about rejection even though test scores are high…because your kids aren’t getting rejected. It’s the poor Florida kid suing that can’t figure it out. |
busy day. saw that post too. |
