My kids don't either - but I also don't judge parents who do. Obviously I'm a better person than you. |
Thank you! I should have put the sarcasm tag on that! I’m perfectly fine with my imperfect parenting of my kid. She’s a good egg. Who is an excellent traveler. And I’ve received enough compliments on my parenting from older folks who only saw a 15 minute snippet of my interactions with my daughter to be smug about how amazing 8 am as a mom. ![]() |
We also tend to interact or just relax without screens on planes and other forms of travel. My older kids do have tablets but only use them at home, not when we are out in the world. I do judge those families if I stop to think about it, but I also have two kids who are happy just sitting and chilling or doodling on a receipt from my purse, and my wilder kid is also very curious and loves watching the plane's workings. |
Sure you do Janice |
Our kids never use iPads outside the house (and v little insider the house - week or two goes by without in house screen time) but on flights they can watch as much as they like |
Yes, we have a housekeeper clean our 10,000sf house. |
💩 |
np I don't like op's smugness but, honestly her reading is fine. You should wear noise cancelling headphones if normal conversation bothers you |
I was on a 4 hour flight recently. A family with 3 kids decided that they will give the kids iPad for only two hours. The oldest two read for the first two hours. However, the youngest one hit my seat more times that I can count, didn’t stop talking and asking for the iPad. Once she gave him the iPad he was quit. The mom is probably proud that they didn’t watch iPad the whole time. But the child was bothering their fellow passengers for two hours straight. |
Neither. |
But why does this make you glad? Who cares and what are yiu gaining? I dont like sitting through a long flight without a screen. Outside of a plane I cant tell you the last movie I saw though, its not a bit part of my life and i dont have time. Watching a movie on a plane is a treat! |
+1 I don't judge people who give their kids iPads on planes but the idea that a parent reading a book to a toddler is wrong is silly. I give my kid an iPad and ALSO sometimes read to her. I use noise-canceling headphones when flying if I want to sleep or focus including when my kid is doing something with her dad and I'm getting a break. |
I thought the no screen families only allow on planes. They are the best parents according to dcum |
Sounds like something a martyr would do. I also assume you don’t have much of a life outside of your kids. |
Your teens spend time doodling on a receipt from your purse? Also, relaxing on a plane without screens we assume you mean your 2 hour flight to Disney or somewhere else basic. |
