Questions emerge as to why MCPS hired drug-dealing Drew elementary teacher given prior criminal history

MCPS is doing its best to duck and not acknowledge this crazy blemish on its reputation. The principal at Drew Elementary in particular is hiding and demonstrating an embarrassing level of cowardice.

They are probably in the process of hiring the consultant who will write the letter now (and will cost 6 figures to do it).

As a parent, I’d be willing to let a teacher have a one-time pass for an alcohol-based DUI incident, but only if MCPS had a mandatory, serious rehabilitation process for helping that person restore themselves before putting them back in front of kids.

But hard-core drugs like what Sarah Magid was involved with should be a one strike and you’re out scenario.

She will be out now.

I dunno they're pretty desperate for special education teachers. They might bring her back to do that.

I was about to say, if she has an SLP or special education license, they're probably at least arguing about it due to the severity of the staffing shortages. As long as you are just briefly selling the drugs in the parking lot and not actually high yourself during your hours, it shouldn't have that much impact, right?

Put her in an elementary school in Bethesda, Potomac or Chevy Chase. I'm sure those parents would be very understanding of Sarah's challenges.

MCPS is just so full of cronyism. The mother Katherine is a para at Paint Branch with a 2014 DUI. She gets her daughter Sarah Magid the job at nearby Drew Elementary using her MCPS contacts. And then Sarah carries and sells fentanyl laced drugs from her classroom potentially endangering the lives of all students and staff. The MoCo OIG needs to investigate and clean house.

They are not a detective agency nor can they clean house.
