Weekend at Bernie’s was a humorous premise for a movie. It is deeply unsettling as a premise for leadership of the free world.

It’s a republic and we are rapidly losing it in favor of fiercely defended idiocies, such as “well, it’s Joe’s turn—let’s back him even though he struggles with verbal continence and is creepy in the presence of children.”

If we had a system of government similar to the British monarchy and Joe was the king, we could shrug it off. But this is insane.

I am hardly the left. But I am incensed about placing blame on the Democrats. We are in this mess because the Rs didn’t have the courage to put forth a decent candidate. This is the third time Trump is running. Seriously? and you blame the left?

+1 No one is demanding Trump drop out despite him only barely winning in 2016 and then losing decisively (but trying to overthrow the government) in 2020. I don’t need to put the whole list of why he should drop out, but he should and instead the GOP is obsessing over the Democratic Party.

Parties need to operate for themselves. Democrats are spending too much time hoping Trump will be gone (he won't), saying Trump is awful (yes, he is) instead of changing what they can control, which is putting the best candidate forward. Should GOP do this too? Absolutely, but as someone who never voted for a GOP candidate I am looking at my camp to do the best it can instead of trying to say it's the other guy's fault and hoping that solves anything.

Agree 100%! A Dems two biggest wishes right now are for Biden to withdraw from the 2024 race and for Trump to remain in the 2024 race.

Reagan passed his large tax cuts through a democratic congress controlled by Tip O’Neill. O’Neill recognized Reagan had a mandate after the 1980 election, and passed cuts that went against his inclinations.

That’s bipartisanship, crossing the aisle. And it’s a thing of the past.

I keep reading people who seem smart talking about compromise, and democrats putting forward a consensus candidate to replace Biden - and I wonder what world they live in. That ship sailed 30 years ago. Now it’s about mobilizing your side and forcing your way.

They have no platform, no ideas, nothing to show for having had a majority, they essentially made abortion illegal in the states they control.
