Valor's 2011G top team isn't bad but they're not top 20 in the nation. GotSport rankings are meaningless, they don't account for regular season play and the points are skewed.

Top 10 in the state for sure, and with some more pieces or time I'm sure they could be very competitive.

But their coach just left for SYC and will probably take a few girls with him.

The 2011 girls gold coach just quit mid-year? RQ?

LOL, in the SYC hiring announcement bio, they mention his long time ago job at Alexandria but no mention of coaching at Valor. Working there is nothing to brag about, you heard it from the coaches.

Likely will finish out the year and next year will be at SYC. With how these ID's are done so early, staff changes also get announced mid year. Stupid system.

It is like the embarassing temp job you take to pay the rent, you don't put that one on your Linkedin.

Really? Top 20 in the nation for a U13 team? Let's get real folks. Let's get something straight, top teams aren't doing state cup and got soccer points is a joke. Be happy your kid is doing well and having fun, but take your top 20 comment and quietly go home before you are laughed out.

I agree that the 2011s are a solid team but they compete against the second teams from bigger clubs. There were/are 2 VA state cups - one for ECNL teams and another for non-ECNL teams. Despite playing in pre-ECNL last year, Valor competed in the non-ECNL state cup, beating second teams on the way to the finals. Cool for them, but it doesn’t make them a Top 20 team in the country.

Easier to rack up GotSport points. ECNL, GA and MLSNext are either not counted at all or not weighted enough. Low level tournaments that were once bigger in their heyday can get lots of points, especially if considered “platinum.” There’s a few tourneys around here with that designation that have top brackets not even as strong as bottom brackets at the major tourneys.

Youth Sports Rankings works better than GotSport rankings.

All those hopeful/delusional 2nd and 3rd team families, thinking that all the departing good players to SYC with the coach will mean their kids will get to move up after tryouts.

I think you might have parents at LS and VRSC that would disagree with you about this. He left teams in bad shape at both clubs.

He must have learned how to coach after he left, I believe the parents at Valor have been seeing a lot of value from his coaching.

He was my daughter's coach years ago and we have zero issue with him.

Most of the parents on this thread were unhappy with the coaching. Is he the one good coach?

Right. Families pay for a full year of club but their coaches and teammates are halfway out the door before the spring season has started. Must be a very odd team vibe. (Who is the coach taking with him? Who gets playtime?)

Welcome to soccer in the DMV area. If you look back, this is an annual thing. A right of passage almost.

Yes, you really only get the fall season with a committed team and coach.
