Rutgers- why is this almost never mentioned

The proximity means connections to jobs and internships in NYC and can't be beat. I went and my kid went and the sky is the limit. Big school but if your kid doesn't need handholding, vibrant social scene and excellent education and opportunities.

Rutgers has zero cool factor. Its large and offers everything and probably good value for in state but no aura so out of state kids not interested. Even in-state, yes the proximity to NYC will track some finance bros but you’ll be the lower end of the prestige ladder. That’s not a compelling case for out of state kids.

How is quality of teaching? Are profs also what a poster described as "K Patel vibes" types?

Rutgers is a fine school. A damn fine school.

That would be HACU not HBCU. Asians are NOT black, fyi.

Eventually all colleges will become HACU

per that link, it's 34% Asian, 31% white. Hardly majority Asian.

The H is not appropriate here

Princeton was once known as “The College of New Jersey.” There is a reason they changed their name over 100 years ago.

Now it is Rutgers that gets to be the College of New Jersey.

Um…The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is the college of New Jersey.

I know your intention was good in correcting the PP, but I think it is best to let ignorant, stupid people expose themselves while the rest of us smile.

I politely and respectfully state I find this comment distasteful.

This is my second reply to this comment. I deleted my first one because I do not want to be banned. Use your imagination.

Rutgers is a great school, but kids aren't feeling NJ like that. And unlike Ohio State, the sports aren't great for kids who want that Big 10 experience. Awesome for an in state option.

Kind of like UMD College Park.
