Why do people become unhinged when you drive exactly the speed limit?

Haha, yes. I was thinking that OP must live in MD. In VA, I'm constantly annoyed by drivers (multiple drivers every day!) going 10+ UNDER the speed limit for no apparent reason.

I personally end up driving in the right lane in MD and in the left in VA.

I actually thought I was possibly sitting just past the point where the bus camera would have caught me (it pulled up and stopped while we were all at a red light) and could maybe have gone, but it was too expensive of a gamble to take. This guy one car length behind me would absolutely have been nailed. He didn't even realize that if I had moved he would definitely have gotten a $250 automated ticket. You're welcome, dipstick!

Yeah, this is a crazy thread!! I guess all these people saying to drive over the speed limit must have hundreds of speeding tickets if you do that in DC. Since when is obeying the law (speed limit) a bad thing? No wonder you are all protesting the gathering up of the illegal immigrants, you don't think they broke any laws

I do 80 on the GWP and I’ve never received a single speeding ticket in my life.

The road is perfectly safe. If you don’t feel comfortable driving that fast that’s fine. Just stay to the right.

I don't understand why Arlington County put up all these speed cameras but these aggressive drivers go unchecked until they cause an accident.

If you're actually going the speed limit and paying attention to the road - awesome! you're doing a great job! MANY of these complaints are because people have their heads buried in the their phones and randomly speed up and slow down all over the place. That's where my frustration comes into play even if doing "the speed limit".

Actually roads are designed for speeds in excess of the speed limit.

"Design Speed vs. Posted Speed: Roadways are engineered with a "design speed" that ensures safety for curves, super-elevation, and sight distance. If the 85th percentile of drivers travels at a certain speed, the road may be designed for that speed even if the posted limit is lower."

If I am in front of you and I see something hazardous, I will slow down to ensure my safety and everyone around my car.

Really? Most vehicles these days have Bluetooth and plenty of drivers who drive older vehicles that don't come with Bluetooth use ear pieces.

Ignore the salty posters telling you that you aren’t a good driver. We are mostly a society of bad drivers. Given the egregious things that drivers do regularly - weave over lines while texting or checking social media, tailgate, speed, run lights, and of course, drive under the influence - it takes a lot of gall to complain about a driver that follows the speed limit.
