I’m surprised so many idiots keep coming back to equate support for innocent Palestinian civilians as support for Hamas. DO BETTER!!!!

Here’s the thing: we aren’t in Israel or Gaza. And the USA isn’t at war.

People are suffering and have suffered on both sides.

So when a Muslim student group organizes a protest supporting one side—Palestinians—it is a political statement taking one side. It is not a call for peace. A call for peace would be done hand in hand with a Jewish group and it wouldn’t fixate on Palestinian suffering without acknowledging the terror group that currently serves as Gaza’s political leadership along with the suffering of the Israelis—including those still being held hostage and as human shields.

If it’s just a Free Palestine from Israel protest, that speaks volumes. Free Palestine from hamas would be better. Free Palestine from Israel broadcasts a disregard of the terrorism and ongoing role of Hamas.

I don’t think they support hamas per se.

Rather:

They don’t like Israel because of the bombing and the historic oppression.

For whatever reason, they can’t connect the dots to hamas—the terrorist group that’s led Gaza for years, attacked Israeli civilians, and is using innocent Palestinians as human shields. (Did everyone see the news yesterday about how Hamas is strategically keeping the youngest hostage—a 10 month old baby? They actually gave him to another terrorist group in Gaza, announcing it in an effort to make clear they have a baby hostage as a human shield.)

Can we at least blame mcps for the lack of critical thinking skills?
MCPS exchanged critical thinking for critical theory years ago. Everything they teach is about oppression and "remedies" for that oppression which, of course, are almost always leftist. Look at the books your kids are reading in school. The classics have been replaced by books written in the past decade, all with an identity-based oppressor/oppression theme. This is not an accident.

I'm always confused when people post stuff like this because it doesn't actually reflect my own child's current experience in MCPS. This year, they've read the Crucible, the Great Gatsby, Into the Wild, and a few more books by dead white guys (some more recently dead than others). I think they've read one "identity-based" book to date, compared to two "classics" and one non-classic with a white male protagonist.

What grade?

There's no such thing as a Palestinian citizen. DO BETTER!!!!

Maybe learn how to read?

I said Palestinian civilians which is very much true no matter how much you want to exterminate them.
There's no such thing as Palestine.

Oh millions of Palestinians dont exist? Nice! Those kinds of statements are really making people sympathize with Israel.

Please tell me how the Palestinians of the West Bank would feel about your statement. The building of settlements is all Hamas right?

Yes this is correct. When you protest in support of one side in a war you are effectively supporting the military goals of that side’s government, which in Gaza is Hamas. Which may be what you intend, but you should do that knowingly.
