It's low-class to have a trendy given name that is someone else's last name, like Emerson or Kennedy. There are more American girls with those names as first names than there are people in the world with those names as last names, LOL.

I am very familiar with rich southerner naming convention of stringing together a bunch of last names and calling it a day. While that does persist, it is perceived as overly pretentious, so you see lots of rich people just going with classic names like Anna and Alice to not draw attention.

Because Mercer is Tinsley’s maiden name and the last name of her father. His sister (Tinsley’s aunt) also had Mercer as her maiden name and named her son (the cousin in question) Mercer after her own maiden name which is quite common for that time period in Richmond. Yes, we grew up together. Also that cousin grew up with a confederate flag hanging up outside his house which eventually became a bit of a controversy at one point.

I have no illusions about the idea that my husband would remarry quickly. We have a good marriage but some people need a partner more than others. I think it’s especially true if you’re still reasonably young / have young kids.

I have a friend who was widowed young (and suddenly) and she remarried within two years. She said she just really wanted a partner to experience life with and I get it. It doesn’t diminish her husband that passed or their marriage.

What I think is weird is that people are pretending to have a case of the vapors that this guy got remarried - *checks calendar* - 2.5 years after his wife passed away.

My mom's mother got sick when my mom was 3, and died when my mom was 6. My mom's father remarried when my mom was 8. It's normal to remarry.

I am alright. When my dad died while I was in high school thankfully my mom didn’t move some failed reality star with a series of mugshots in within the *checks notes* year.
