Why does the "Q" need to be part of any childhood instruction?

Kids do not nedd to know about orgies, polygamy, public sex fetishes, kinkis, etc.

I think your advocates are losing a lot of ground on the Q stuff.

No parent wants that information taught to children, not even most of the gay and lesbian parents.

This is where in the curriculum? Which grade level(s)?

My bet is there will be no answer to this either. Just keep spewing nonsense.

The proposed changes have not been voted on yet by the school board. They delayed it. The proposed changes include the ludicrous assigned female and male at birth along with no longer separating genders. No thanks.

The funny thing is that the the children of the pearl clutchers, assuming they aren't trolls, more than likely have already been exposed to LGBTQ people in school. DD was in 4th grade when I noticed a trans child in school, and she had known about her for at least a year prior to that.

THIS. I'll never forget that sleepover in 5th grade. And back then we didn't even have internet, or cell phones. There was only one TV and one rotary dial phone in most houses, only three channels on TV and no programming between midnight and 12pm (Europe, 1970s).

But boy, my friend told me about things I had no idea were a thing.

Again, that terminology (assigned male or female at birth) has been used by FCPS through the entire 2022-2023 school year, making it oficial as early as last year. Go back to last years’ school correspondence and you’ll see it. It is there!

Your kid will learn about puberty and that it's ok to have 2 moms. Relax.

Yes, I totally recognize that I'm an outlier in the group on this, but I just don't think elementary school kids need to be learning about all of the trans/non-binary stuff. In any event, we'll cover it when DD is bigger.

They don’t learn that in elementary. Read the state curriculum before you make stupid decisions and make stupid comments.

But using the language "assigned at birth" invites kids to question "what does that mean?".....and just because you don't agree with someone doesn't make them stupid or their comment stupid.

I guarantee you that no elementary student is going to pick up on that nuance of language.

And if they did . . . . then explain it to them. It's really not that hard. You can inject your personal biases, however ignorant they are, into said explanation if you wish.

God, when did parents become such fu---ing cowards about talking to their kids?

By 4th grade, they are hearing/seeing things that would shock you. They are.

But I just really can't deal with the extreme positions Democrats have staked out on some of these sexuality and gender debates. Of course I'd never say this publicly. Just curious how many others who feel like me are out there.

Bullshit.

Tell me exactly what in the curriculum you object to. You can review it.

One change would teach sex education in gender-combined classes in 4th to 8th grade where all students will receive instruction on the menstrual cycle unless they are opted out by parents, and boys would be referred to as “assigned males at birth” and girls would be referred to as “assigned females at birth.”

How about instead of citing right-wing Sinclair Broadcasting you go to the source materials?

Also, none of the above is inaccurate, so what is your complaint, exactly? The coed class? What’s the issue, exactly?

I don't care for the "sex assigned at birth" language for the younger grades.

Why not? It’s accurate. And certainly more precise.

What you “care for” isn’t relevant anyway. You’re only a parent — leave the education of your children to professionals. Your opinions about this don’t matter at all. Stay in your lane.

Cute. But they'll hear it anyway. But if you wanna bury your head in the sand about it, the void will just be filled by others elsewhere.

It isn't burying my head in the sand. It is me providing my kids with information, not the school.

This is why the school needs to teach it. You intend to give your children incorrect and bad information. That’s not good for your children or society.

Maybe your children should be removed from your care if you are going to be this neglectful. It’s not like Your position on this is valid or should be respected.

DP. You have problems with teaching "biology" as opposed to fiction? "Sex assigned at birth" is not science.

If you ever have kids, feel free to discuss with them any topics of your preference. If you wish, you can even invoke Moloch, the god of pedophilia and bestiality with them. Meanwhile, you don’t get to decide for other parents what, when, or how they talk to their kids about certain topics - if at all.

Where is any of that being taught in FCPS?

No it is not.

That is made up political twitter activist language.

There is zero scientific basis for using the trendy tumbler speak language of "sex assigned at birth"
