I loved everything about it and love Keri.

But… it was so unrealistic. First, their marriage? I’ve been married 12 years. Dh and I never over analyze our marriage. They constantly talk about their marriage like they’re dating. Or maybe married 2 years. They just don’t have that long term camaraderie.

Second, why are all these people talking about classified stuff over cell phones?! Why is the London station chief 30? There also are a lot more people that work in the embassy.

The CIA station chief’s mullet drove me crazier than Kates. Kate actually reminds me exactly of my senior top of my agency (I’m being vague about her role). Even the part about disliking dressing up. When she goes to Congress or the White House it is a circus. She’s also disorganized. But she knows her job area and is excellent. She often sleeps in the office and jokes about needing a suitcase at work.

The lead is too frenetic. Always moving, always eating with her hands, talks fast. Can she just sit still?

Her marriage does not look like on the verge of divorce. They are so strange.

Is it worth watching?

1. I just want to pull her hair back in to a pony tail b/c it is so messy looking.

2. I think she doesn't care about the clothes/ make up, etc and not doing anything about it b/s she is a annoyed/resentful that she was forced to take this "frivolous" position at the last minute instead of going and doing what she was planning on and passionate about, that she considers real work.

A high level government official (not a model), peeling off clothes in front of camera crews and underlings? Not going to happen.

Yes, it keeps your interest. In more of a gossipy (than international intrigue) way.

I find that Foreign Secretary guy (that she is falling for) to be VERY sexy/appealing.

Spoiler comment:

Kates call to Roylin tipped off the PM and got the MP killed. My guess is Roylin and the PM conspired together to blow up their own countrymen. MP found out somehow.

Yes, the plot is completely unrealistic, but it brings the fast-paced drama and complex relationships!

Although I’m annoyed about the reveal of the bad guy in the finale (come on, really!!!), I’m here for season 2 if it happens!

I can’t wait! When will we know? How soon could it air??!!

I just read it took 15 months to produce Season 1, so even if they greenlight a second season…we are probably looking at more than a year’s delay.

Wah!!! I watched the first 8 episodes in a week, and have to wait more than a year for Part 2?!

That seems wrong 😭

Absolutely - loved it.

Enjoyed the first season. I wish her chemistry with the guy who plays the Foreign Secretary was better.

There are high up women in government roles who resent having to wear makeup, put more effort into their hair and clothes. That’s realistic from my experience. I don’t work for state but l would be surprised if an ambassadors wife wasn’t already doing all the grooming.

The thing that's annoying about the emphasis on her being a stinky frump is that, even bare-faced and greasy, she looks like KERI RUSSELL, a freaking gorgeous celebrity, so yeah, we can kinda find it charming.

If she looked like an average woman (much less an average MIDDLE-AGED woman), greasy hair and stinky pits would effectively KILL a career, because society ain't got no time or patience for it.

So, these details are all, beneath the surface, suppose to make us relate to and care for her because she's not like other girls, when in fact the tacit logic that persuades us that her character could get away with this BS is because we KNOW she isn't like other girls, because she's Keri freaking Russell.

You wanna create a truly novel female protagonist? Cast someone looks like an average, ordinary, BMI-25 48 year old woman. I would suggest an actress here but we don't see women like that on American TV, not even reality TV! I'm sure some British soap opera has a couple of likely prospects though.

plus, she's like a size zero and looks good in anything.
