But then, let’s think about this. When was the last time we had a VP who wasn’t a joke? (Don’t tell me Biden because his image completely changed after 8 years of Obama; he went from rough-hewn loose cannon who had friends across the aisle to stabilizing grandpa after Trump). Gore was always viewed as a bit of a clown…Was it Bush?? VPs are always a laughing stock. Otherwise they’d get the nomination.

Are we being too harsh on Kamala? And if not, who’d want that gig? Anyone worth his/her salt is eyeing the top job.

I like her but agree that she has been disappointing and fails to connect with many people.

Do you think this is her personality and lack of public speaking skills or the fact that she has not been given enough opportunities to shine?

no one who is actually good needs to be "given opportunities to shine"

she ran for President and got blown out of the water

as VP, she has been on TV plenty, and has accomplished little with it except giving people more material to mock her with

if she was capable of shining she would have done it by now

What VP has shined while in that office? It doesn’t happen. I’ve never thought she’d make a good president but there’s not much VPs are able to accomplish.

Dick Cheney would disagree.

Why? Seriously.

Not PP but Bush/Cheney was a completely different scenario. Cheney ran all the foreign policy because Bush was an idiot governor who didn’t have any experience with it and Cheney did, to disastrous effect.

You won’t pull wool over these eyes

LOL.

No, the one reason is........ she is a horrible VP and would be an even more disastrous president.

Dick Cheney was certainly the most powerful vice president in modern times. When it came to foreign policy in particular he was the US government. Bush was out of his comfort zone, particularly after 9/11. Everything that followed was a result of Dick Cheney.

The point is that vice presidents are not always irrelevant. Kamala Harris certainly is though. And given Biden's age, she's a huge liability to the ticket. If republicans could ever get past their Trump obsession, a Biden/Harris ticket would never win. But if republicans continue to go all in with Trump, a toaster oven would win the presidency.

I really don’t see Trump getting the nod this go-around. it is all media hype to sell news (people are interested in the train wreck story) and most people people are not interested in another Trump win. From my perspective, most either they never liked him that much and voted for him previously only to shake things up, or just never liked him. People want more stability now. Trump is a bull in a china shop. And Kamala … she gives a lot of meaningless word-salads (as mentioned upthread) and people don’t trust her to be a moderate like Joe naturally is. She didn’t / doesn’t even like him, which makes trusting her to be like Joe more difficult.

VP Harris is doing great.

The conservatives and Bernie bros hate her, but so what?

VP pence can barely raise $1M for his POTUS campaign.

VP Harris will raise that within 15 minutes after announcing her 2028 POTUS campaign.

Why can’t she just speak coherently??

Because she is not that smart. She speaks to her audience as if they are 6-year-olds. It is insulting.
And, she only speaks in generalities - every topic she speaks on lacks specifics. Because she has no idea what the hell she is talking about.

She needs an IQ test.
Who passed the bar for her?

Since when have there been expectations for a VP? They’re always made fun of but no one ever expects anything from them.
