2023 Oscar fashion thread!

Only nice dress is Cara's but shoes are meh! Needed a nude color pair for this or a transparent one. The color is distracting.

Pretty standard for CB but she literally NEVER looks bad. One of those people who knows her body, her face, her public image, the specific image she's selling for a particular role, and just executes it really well every single time. I am trying to think of a true red carpet "miss" from her and coming up empty. I don't love them all but she always looks gorgeous and stands out in a very specific-to-her way.

What a horrendous looking dress. That puts the F in FUGLY!

I need to know what look you do like if this dress is hideous to you

Please go call out someone else in a thread full of opinions.

Anonymous wrote:This is, of course, very bad. But it's bad in a very specifically Florence Pugh way that maybe I've decided is fine? She loves overskirts with shorts and platform heels and weird necklines and she is weirdly consistent about it. I think I could come around on this if the colors weren't "black and dirty-sheets-beige".

What an amazing look! I so love this!

Should also note this color is like something created in a lab to make her eyes, hair, and skin look good. Someone mentioned upthread that Jessica Chastain's look is "not her colors" (accurate) but this is very much Cate's color, even if it looks like a swatch of fabric they draped over her torso at a Color Me Beautiful franchise in a strip mall.

"Cate, you're a light summer."

"Girl, trust me, I know."

I agree with everything else you said but I think, for her, that this is a miss.

Or a huge fan -
She walked out and I thought way too much LEF and waaay to much fabric.

Do you think Bill Kramer hates Janet Yang? He rolled his eyes when she acknowledged him.

Margot Robbie. I like when people who are presenters and not nominees tone it down but this needs… something.

Deepika Padukone. The bejeweled gloves. Impeccable!

Julia Louis Dreyfus actually looks comfortable in addition to looking fabulous. Quite a feat.

The shoes are very late 80s early 90s dyed satin. Which I kinda liked since the dress had a Julia Roberts / Jessica Rabbit / Cindy Crawford late 80s / early 90s thing going.

She just won for costume design but this dress is doing horrible things to her boobs. I don’t get it.

It’s like she thought she was going to a super hero party dressed as Wonder Woman. Salma usually hits the mark. This is a miss.
