I could see stopping birth citizenship for legit reasons but when you cite "culture". Yeah you are definitely being RACIST. Sorry but, just own it. |
I actually have looked at buying a house in Canada as I have family very close to the border and ancestors from Quebec. I've considered moving to Canada but Canada doesn't want me - I don't check enough boxes on the questionnaire. If Canada has made it difficult or impossible for us to buy homes there, then absolutely we should do the same to Canada. And any other country who treats us that way (China). Otherwise, I'm for controlling landlord profits and that's anti capitalist so Rs will never go for it. |

You know the combined value of residential homes owned by Canadians and Mexicans is greater than that owned by Chinese, ie $8.4bn vs $6.1bn. Hate to ruin a lively debate with a few facts.

| Should we? Yes. Will we? No bc our politicians are greedy and work for the benefit of wealthy individuals and corporations. |
Sad truth. Our children will never own homes. |
Lots of Russians own property in FL, too. Is he going to also ban them? |
+1 LOTS of Russians |
Wow, look at that xenophobia and open racism. |
More than a million legal immigrants enter the USA per year. If you don't think that adds to housing demand, let alone energy consumption, and fossil fuel emissions, I don't know what to tell you. |
Wait, so they are legally here, meaning our country said "come on in!", and yet you want to punish them because....? -NP |
It’s not about legal or illegal immigrants. It’s about foreign money. People, governments, and companies with no immigration status at all buying up our property and charging us rent and driving up prices. |
| Many countries have laws forbidding foreign ownership. It's smart. the US is not smart. |
It's off topic, but our immigration policy should be decided upon how beneficial it is to our citizenry. Our immigration policy is largely decided on what is good for businesses (cheap labor for both skilled and unskilled positions). If you care about climate change, then you would realize that adding millions of people to western consumption levels with respect to energy is not a smart proposition. Nor is tearing down green spaces for new housing tracts environmentally responsible. |
I'm all for it. I think this is an issue that will easily resonate with many Americans. Dems oughta start thinking about it. |
Who cares. As long as they own blocks of houses it’s a problem. -NP |
