I don’t know how to post the picture but Kate’s gala outfit is beautiful. Glowing green gown and Diana’s emerald and diamond choker.

In the UK she wears British fashion designers mostly to evens whose cultural context she understands and it reads out loud and clear. Here she’s a mish mash of trying not too look too formal, or too aristocratic, or too casual, and yet professional, and yet not in competition with MM who is at home here. I wish she would just keep up the English style over here and teach people a thing or two instead of trying to fit in. And the pussy bow blouses have come to go. Plus she is too thin and could use 10 pounds she looks pressured and uncomfortable.

Exactly. Who counseled her to change her wardrobe for the US visit? And she listened to the person who said, ooh, multiple monochromatic pantsuits! You won't over shadow Wills! You'll look more regal than the 96 yr old queen! Yes, do this for USA!

She looks gorgeous but that dress color does not suit her-or anyone for that matter. It is horrible and matches the carpet

I actually don’t like the green at all. If she wanted to do the earth vibe and the jewels vibe should have tried an emerald green.

I can’t believe the media isn’t talking about her eating disorder.

Princess Michael of Kent (who seems like a nasty piece of work but not necessarily a liar) brought it up really nonchalantly in an interview a few years ago but that's been scrubbed. Like, "Will likes his women to be like his mother. Tall and anorexic without much between the ears."

If true, that says a lot more about her (princess Michael of Kent) than it does about Kate.

She rented it. 600 dress rented for 100 bucks in the name of sustainability. I think she looks amazing.

I realized I have never seen her in so many pant suits - maybe it's bc she knows she will be surrounded by press and doesn't want any wardrobe malfunctions (skirt blowing up, legs crossing, etc)?

This is it.

Plus, she's not 25 anymore. She's smart to play it safe, plus it's freezing in Boston.

She doesn't need to be this conservative. She is the Princess of Wales. Diana had a lot of striking looks as Princess of Wales. Her job includes getting people excited about Britain, and her clothing (because she speaks so little) is her primary way of doing that. These clothes aren't doing the job.

Diana never appeared in mourning. Kate and her husband are still observing a period of mourning. There are rules, yes, rules!!!, about attire for when you're a member of the royal household and you are in mourning. Kate and her dressers are observing them. Give it a rest.

And Diana didn’t have to endure the internet age where every perceived misstep would go viral.

I can't tell what color green it is -- the pics I see vary a lot. But none of them seem to compliment the choker jewels well. And, again, too conservative & monochromatic and does everything to hide her best features. And what the ? with her comb over?

It does look better as a choker than a headband.

My sense is that she is trying to honor the prizewinners tonight and not overshadowing them and making it about herself. She could be queen any time now and I think with that comes fewer fashion risks and more conservative looks. I don't think it comes naturally for her to have the same fashion flare of Rania or Letizia. She used to dress rather frumpy in her 20s if you recall so this is all a big step up.
