The DNF (Did Not Finish) Thread

The Book of Longings. It got returned on my kindle when I had maybe a chapter left and I just didn't care enough to get back on a waitlist to finish it.

OMG, yes. I really hated A Little Life. Even that angsty book cover is like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I hated Addie Larue so much even though parts of it have really stuck with me! I did finish but I was really tempted not to.

Same. I absolutely hated it.

Same here too. Wish I hadn't read it. Weak premise.

I finished La Hacienda but wish I hadn't. What a waste.

My contribution is Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. I really tried and am not a DNF, but I chucked it away.

I finished it bc I was on vacation without another book but I found The Anarchy (non fiction about the east India company) a pretty tough slog.

A friend said this book made him feel as if he’d won a ticket straight to the bardo.

I absolutely loved it. But I can see how it wasn't for everyone lol. It was definitely bizarre.

I DNFd that. I was disappointed because of the hype, but I just could not get into it.

I quit this one too.

I hated all of these. Way too many pages to get even remotely interesting. Beartown is also a story that has been told a million times. Just because you say Hockey hockey hockey - doesn't make it new.

I liked a A Man called Ove. I couldn't get into beartown or anxious people.

Totally agree. I adored A Man Called Ove but couldn’t get into Beartown and I gave up.

I thought A man called Ove was great. I haven't read Beartown yet.

Yeah, I quit on this one pretty fast.

Beartown is amazing!

The Dictionary of Lost Words
Tell Me an Ending
Great Circle

Another one that thinks goodreads needs a DNF option.

Reviving this. DNF “the lies that bind us.” I think it was recommended as a summer read here but it was so … contrived and half was through somewhat predictable and unlikeable and draggy:
