Columbia was removed from the 2022 ranking (tied at #2) due to recent disclosures of improper data submission to US News. Columbia University is one of a handful of elite schools that does not submit a CDS.

For the top 5, go with the 5 largest endowments (Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Princeton, MIT).

Then Penn, Chicago, Northwestern, Caltech, & Duke in some order.

Johns Hopkins and Columbia tied at #11.

Next grouping: Dartmouth, Brown, Vanderbilt, Cornell, & WashUStL.

Next 5: Rice, Notre Dame, UCLA, & Cal-Berkeley.

USC may move up from its current #27 position.

Columbia is #5 by Forbes.
Doesn't matter what National Enquirer, Vogue, Victoria Secret, or US News says.

I guess that everyone is entitled to at least one fantasy.

Columbia as #5 by Forbes is not a fantasy. It's a fact.

A fact that nobody cares much.
More important fact is that USN&WR is the flagship ranking ý

US News is mass media, like National Enquirer is. Colleges can run circles around these clowns. But they can't game Forbes bc you can't fake outcomes.

I kind of agree that outcomes should be the major criteria, but looks like it has long way to catch up and need to make a lot of improvments.

Fifth best in the Ivy League, maybe.

If you can send fake data to one media outlet, you can send it to another. Outcomes are self-reported by alums, the colleges compile the numbers, and there is no one to authenticate the source or the compilation. If outcomes are the most important thing for you, by all means prioritize the Forbes rankings, but don't think it's any "cleaner" than any other ranking. It's not.

I would check out this https://collegescorecard.ed.gov/

for outcomes for school + field combination

Columbia is a fine T20. The school’s newfound USNWR fortunes last year were a fantasy, and it all unraveled quickly.

USNWR should remove the service academies from the rankings.

Too niche

Pay scale outcome is based on tax filings.

Really? Who has access to tax filings based on where you got your degree--which appears nowhere on your tax return?
