Just for fun: worst/best dishes to bring to a block party

I’ll eat most deviled eggs if they’re still cool/covered/in shade.

I love a good grilled hot dog or hamburger. Ruffles and onion dip on the side.

I was just about to post the same thing! Also, fruit salad, cucumber & tomato salad with feta, watermelon, veggies & dip—I love having a variety of produce because cooking for my family means we usually just have the same few fruits & veggies.

Worst: anything that needs to be kept hot or cold but is instead sweating and growing bacteria. (Former food manager.)

Best: Those awesomely awful Rice Krispie treats with peanut butter and the melted chocolate on top

Let’s duke it out.

I love 3-bean salad, canned or not. You seem picky and judgmental.

I feel like people have only had poorly made versions of these things and pre-judge all versions there ever after by that experience.

That said, I don’t like to take a lot of food in case it’s made poorly or has been made/stored unsafely and stick to desserts. And Ramen Noodle Salad! I love that stuff.

I know people are hating on mayo, but I love seven-layer pea salad with crunchy bacon on top, kept and served chilled.

I bring my own pear, Gouda, and tiny snifter of Frangelico.

Cretin. That’s only for holiday parties. Take your fruit and go eat it on the porch, already.

ILY

I love you, too, which is why I brought this Harry and David basket that I won in a raffle at work to share with you!

How curious that you seem to win the raffle every year!

Well aren’t you special.

Suit yourself. Burger King is just a short 5 mile hike up the road.

Clearly I spend too much time on DCUM because I got all those references.

Is lightly fried tuna thumbs up or down at a block party?

Are you frying it on site?

Ramen salad

Corn salad

Sometimes, to ensure that my kids and other young ones get their veggies, a basic veggie platter with 4009 baby carrots and 300 cherry tomatoes.

Oooh, I love that stuff! Good suggestion!

Agree. Boiled egg yolk mixed with mayo. Yuck

What is Texas caviar? I’m guessing it isn’t at all caviar...

Salad with corn, beans, tomato, cilantro, red onion. Usually with a limey dressing. It’s great with tortilla chips.
