A pasty gentleman.

There is a very strong male advantage at SLACs and many other schools (except tech/engineering) so I doubt that's the case.

Remember grades are REALLY inflated.

My kid is in DCPS and for 18 months the entire school district did not give a grade lower than a B. (all C's and below were converted to "P"s which are not calculated into GPAs).
Then, if you signed your name on the papers, you got an A. The standards for As were ridiculously low. In quarters 3 and 4 of 20-21 all work was considered extra-credit. My son
and all his friends ended up with 300% in most classes.

This graduating class is screwed because so many kids have unusually high GPAs. The pool of high GPAs is much higher than usual.

Which is one SAT or ACT should be required everywhere.

Awww so kind! He did hear from a few more schools. Two safeties admitted to, and two targets admitted. He’s happy about the schools so whatever now happens with deferrals he’s in a much better place, for sure. So relieved.

Congrats! My Daughter has been deferred from every reach so far (waiting on UMD) and admitted to all targets. I think it’s playing out exactly how it should she is now totally fine with targets she was admitted to. Time has helped heal the wounds as well…

He is going to be asked if he wants to ED II at those schools that have it. If he declines, just know …. He’s going to get rejected. So he needs to have solid plans for RD

Disagree. My kid received email from Miami to change his EA to EDII. He is not going to do that because he doesn't want to commit without seeing merit offer. He is well above the stat range and while is certainly isn't a safety, I don't believe that not changing status to EDII means a rejection. I guess will find out who is right in the next couple weeks. If he gets mid merit package, he might go and if he gets the $28K/year he likely will go. I think schools know that money matters and don't automatically reject if you don't ED.

OP, you can go on The College Board's -- Big Future-- site and filter by application deadline. Search by latest deadlines. Do this to calm nerves. There may be other schools to add, just to be safe. Also, in May a survey comes out of all schools that still have space. There are always some fine schools on the list.

These are just in case ideas, if back-up plans make you/your son feel better.
