As it gets more and more difficult to get into "good" colleges, the unhooked, white and well-off look at schools that a generation ago would not have been on a college list. A slow dribble of interest, one or two who actually enroll, and reports back of receiving a terrific education and a happy college experience, and before you know it the high school sends a half dozen or so per year to a particular college. Clemson may be the flavor of the month. In my day it was USC (South Carolina), Charleston and Elon.

Only wealthy people can afford to pay $40,000 for results like that.

It's actually $52,000, all in.

Visi is $40K

Or maybe these kids got aid. Not everyone has $80k cash per year for school. DCUM tends to forget this.

I would assume that most people who have enough to send their kids to visi have enough for college, otherwise the could easily put the visi tuition in a 529, send their kid to public, and afford college

Visi is one of the cheaper schools around, at $32k/yr.

Sidwell is $48k. NCS is $49k.

Parents who have children there use this term. I’ve heard it many times.

+1

My friend who graduated from there calls it Visi, as does her niece who currently attends.

+1. Crazy to suggest otherwise.

My friends daughter goes there and refers to it as Visi 100 percent of the time.

Ah. *Only* 32k a year. Cheap.

This may qualify as the most tone deaf “DCUM Bubble” post of all time.

AHC is $30k (tuition + fees). GC is slightly lower. Surprised Visi is only $32k. They must be struggling.

We're talking about independent schools in the DC area. It is what it is. 32 is a lot less than many of the other schools. If reading this upsets you, maybe don't come to this forum. There are many posts and threads that will trigger you.

Get real. it is an abbreviation of Visitation, nothing more or less. Learn to lose an argument.

I have a kid who went to private school in DC. I know what it costs. I also know that the demographics of the schools that cost $32k a year vary not at all from schools that cost $49. Anyone who thinks so is clueless about the real world.

We’re not clueless about the real world. Stop it. Enough of the threadjack.

Well, Google does have maps. It is a beautiful campus and should be no surprise that Georgetown Visitation is in Georgetown.
