Capital’s entire focus is to get their girls recruited. If your daughter has no desire to play in college, I don’t believe that will be a good fit for her.
I think the OP was asking whether Capital could benefit girls/players with that mindset. Not what would benefit Capital.

Correct. I meant it wouldn’t be a good fit for the daughter, not Capital. I’m sure they will still take the check whether she wants to play in college or not. A girl and team whose sole focus is to get recruited will have different needs and wants from a girl who is there for other (equally valid) reasons. I 10000000% don’t think every kid should play in college. I dont think my own kid is college athlete material…which is why she isn’t trying out for Capital.

I thought they had good coaching, are supposed to imprpve the player, and give equal playing time.
Are you saying they would nix all that for a girl who concluded she wasn't looking to be recruited? Just trying to figure out what you're saying. If Capital just did what they normally do, the girl would just be taking a pass on the recruiting help. Sounds like it would work out just fine for her.

They do, if she wants to play there I’m sure she would still benefit. Honestly I don’t really care where people choose to play. For me and my daughter, it’s more about the other girls and their families that will be drawn to Capital with the sole focus of getting recruited. There are other teams that also have good coaching and develop the girls that would provide a better team cultural fit for a girl that’s just looking to improve and have a great 4 years in high school vs girls trying to showcase. We’ve been around this in the past and it can lead to a cutthroat mentality that doesn’t seem worth it if you don’t intend to be recruited. Especially some of the 29 families we know that hope to play for Capital. I’m not here supporting either team, I think there’s no one size fits all and hope everyone finds a team that fits their daughter best.

So when the best player goes to a different team .... what happens to the girls who stayed at M&D DC?
Is that what happened to Capital the last couple of years?

They seem to be doing well based on their record. Maybe they get more reps too?
Apologies, I guess my question was unclear. The last 2 years of Capital teams, the '27s and '28s. Has it been a key injury to their top player, or has that player(s) gone to a different team, causing both teams to drop like a stone in the rankings and now be playing in third tier brackets? Please keep it anonymous, if you can.

Injuries to top players hurt them, but more so the equal playing time. If they played the top 12 with a few extra middies rotating in, the records would be much better. Capital would rather see the whole team get recruited to decent schools rather than the top third to top schools. Quantity over quality. Great if you're at the bottom, not as much if towards the top.

If you’re at the top you’re gonna go high regardless given the exposure of the Capital brand.

Does Capitol take out of state players? We are from the out of state but thinking about moving east to increase opportunity for recruiting.

They don’t do fly ins. Your DD would have to be able to make every practice. Mandatory rule

What do they normally do for practice? 1x week? 2x week? Since they are in HS is it more in the fall and less in the spring?
Anonymous
Fall 1 practice on weekend. No practice in spring. Summer 2x during week

They practice very little compared to a standard travel team. Especially compared to basketball, soccer, other travel lacrosse teams etc. A couple months in the fall, 6 months off, then a couple months in the summer starting late May.

In the years where the team is a top 5, 10 or even 15 team, yes.

It seems like you're saying that they'd just have to be prepared to be around some more recruit talk among parents and players, but I'd guess the OP is aware of that. And that that might not be your cup of tea. Tomato, tomato. If the player is good enough and can deal with it.... as that could be the least of their worries, I'd imagine it could be a great choice for them.
I don't know what supporting either team means.

When you get to high school I really think playing a club sport is for those that would like to play in college. Play in high school and have that experience but travelling all over without a goal to move on to the next level seems like waste of time and resources.

I think Skywalkers does this

Some of the Baltimore clubs take out of state players. Where are you coming from? Being on one of these teams isn’t a guarantee to get recruited either. There are some out of state players that are playing but it’s at what cost. These clubs don’t do much developmental things. Kids have to put a lot of work on their own.

Anyone know how NGLL selected their all region team?
