Well STA came in last place in the IAC last Spring and smashed DeMatha in the regular season game.

WCAC has two elite teams, SJC and Gonzaga. After that, I wouldn't call it a top heavy lacrosse conference. WCAC cares much more about football and hoops than it does lacrosse.

First of all last season is last season. Still there were some great goalies in the DMV last season I wonder if scoring will be up this year. If we are going to play the compare who beat who game, DeMatha peat PVI who beat Gonzaga 2x who beat Bullis. Is Gonzaga elite? I think SSSAS will be much improved but the IAC should be close. WCAC will still be the top four teams like always and the question is if GC can get in the mix to make it a five team conference.

The IAC has clearly slid as SJC placed more emphasis on lax; GP upped their out of state recruiting; Bullis firing their HM; and the other schools reducing their emphasis on sports. EP was a really weak 2nd seed last year.

If the WCAC is top heavy with 2 teams, the IAC is even more so with GP and the rest of the conference far below. Landon thinks this could be the return to the glory years, but it will be another 5 or 6 loss season.

historically speaking, the bottom 3 teams from the IAC (Saints, Episcopal and STA) are generally stronger / better than 4th, 5th, 6th place teams in the IAC (DM, Heights, Good Counsel)

With that being said, I do believe Good Counsel trajectory is on the rise under Dane Smith... DeMatha remains a wildcard.

Dane Smith is an outstanding coach and an effective recruiter. I think GC will perform better than expected this year and will be a major contender in 2-3 years. He's brought great life to the program.

I hope you are right, there is no reason why Good Counsel shouldn't be better in lacrosse than they currently are. They have the facilities to be excellent.

DeMatha remains a mystery to me. Their program used to be excellent. Hopefully the new head coach who is an alum can turn it around as Mitchell did nothing to elevate the program.

I mean that hasn't stopped people from posting almost 90 pages of the same 3-4 arguments since the end of the season last May/June. Can't wait to see the page count when the teams actually play games.

As of today, DM is not a coach a Bullis and season starts on the 19th. I believe he will continue at DeMatha as an Assist Coach.
