Will Springfield ever gentrify? Or permanent Bootyhole status?

Anonymous
I saw a thread alleging that Springfield is the “bootyhole of NoVa”. I honestly believe this to be true. Do you think it will stay this way long term and just be kind of a place for the poor, or do you think it is a buying opportunity?

Permanent bootyhole. The rich areas keep getting more desirable, and the poor areas keep getting more undesirable.

Nowhere in NOVA has gotten better since I moved here in 2001. Not a single area has "gentrified." Some have gotten worse especially in PWC.

Who cares? Newer Whole Foods, 2 Trader Joe’s, 3 great American restaurants, some good mom and pop Thai, Peruvian chicken places and free parking without garages. A great park and trails. We love the area!

PS I wouldn’t buy here for investments. We dont’ want you to. Let’s keep it for the poor actual middle class people.

I don't think this is true. I was in Annandale and Falls Church recently. They were not desirable areas 25 years ago, and the areas I was in were fairly nice. People still don't use public schools as much though.

Springfield covers a lot of territory, OP. Some neighborhoods are to be avoided and some are quite nice. Just like most places.

Old Town? Perhaps a couple streets. South Arlington is as dumpy as its ever been.

Del Ray was nice when I moved here 25 years ago. I should know, I lived there 15 years.

Obviously OP does.
He wants proximity with the “wealthy”.

Route 1 no longer has street walkers. Most of the time.

People can’t be happy. They say they want walkability…
