Current club ghosting us. What do I do next?

Anonymous
Travel U11 boys for next year. DS has played for this club for 3 years. Tryouts for next year were last week. Offers started going out for top teams last Friday and by practice on Thursday night, everyone on our current team had gotten their offers. We have heard nothing. I spoke with our current coach at the end of practice and he said he was told DS was getting an offer for X team and said those offers had already gone out. He said he’d reach out to upper management and see what was going on.

That night, DH sent an (very polite) email to the boys head coach, the age group head coach, and our current coach. We have heard nothing. Not even an acknowledgement that they got the email. We texted our current coach. Nothing. Called the club office and left a message this morning.

We have a game tomorrow. What do we do/say? Do we even go??

At this point, I don’t even care if they’ve cut him. I just want someone to have the balls to tell us!!

Talk to your kid.

If he's up for it, show up and make them tell you to your face.

If it's a snafu, you're ready to go.

If they are gutless, they may put him back on the team.

Not every kid would be okay with this but I would have been.

They’re waiting to see if they have space for him before cutting, in case offers to outside players are rejected.

OP here. If that’s the case, fine! But tell us that!!! Don’t just leave us with no communication

I believe this is the case also. Be sure to bring that up when you talk to them. We also have a player without any offer at all. The team is really waiting on the last few families to accept or decline before the last player gets an offer.

My ds is 17 and has played since U9. Tried out for several teams along his soccer career. At NO time was he ever given more than 24 hrs to accept or decline an offer.
If you can...run away fat from your club. Now!

Our club wanted my August birthday to play U12 next year and he’s not even the strongest player on his current team. No one responded to my numerous emails that we didn’t want him to play up. He’s already mostly sitting on the bench even though he has the highest practice attendance rate. That told me what I needed to know about the club (plus the club is a pretty toxic environment). We moved to a smaller club where son will play U11 with a coach who is excited to have him. I would run from your current club if it was me.

This. Having your kid press the issue will add some building blocks to his DNA that will travel with him in the future. Press the issue, time and opportunity waits for no one.

These are men, they don't communicate

Agree; they are clearly stalling.

Sorry to hear this. Our club makes a minimum recommendation BEFORE tryouts, based on the season's performance, also where you can still make a higher team, although it's tough and also depends on who stays/who try out. Many parents appreciate this system.

Yea, sounds like a real kid first club. You’re money.

Sorry you're in this situation OP. Are you willing to share which club, maybe after you see what happens?
