Those who have hit maintenance on GLP-1

Anonymous
What is your maintenance plan -- i.e., what dosage do you take, how often? Have you regained any after switching to maintenance?

I hit goal weight (though honestly I probably could do another 4-5 pounds but I'm happy with where I am generally) so am slowly dropping in dosage. Food noise is coming back with a vengeance (I really, really wanted a doughnut last week. I gave in, but the food noise is going to be the hardest part of all of this). I do not want to regain -- I spent too much money and time to just ruin all of this now. But the food noise is going to make this impossible.

How are you doing on maintenance?

I lost 60 pounds but my weight lost just slowed down naturally while on it and now my weight is pretty constant. I never got to the top dose but I have just stayed at my current dose. Food noise slowly came back a little but its not bad. Its been a little over 2 years. I don't want to gain anything back so I'm okay just staying where I am even though its a little expensive.

I'm enjoying the shit out of some donuts. If you don't, you are definitely going to gain the weight back.

I'm staying at 7.5 indefinitely. I focus on mostly plant-based protein, liquids, lots of fruits and veg, and ice cream every night. I'm in this for the long-haul, so I'm not going to deny myself some joy, I worked too hard for a balanced life to stay disordered in my eating.

How often do you take 7.5?

I take a dose of 1.0 once per week, and have been on this maintenance dose for about 6 months. Have been on Wegovy for a total of about 2 years.

The only weight gain I've had was when I forgot a shot. A couple of days later, I realized it, and thought I should go ahead and take it, but I was 100% sure I'd forgotten and horrible things happen if you take too much of this stuff. So I waited until my next shot day. I gained about 6 pounds within about a week and a half. Took a couple of weeks for me to stabilize, and then it took about 6 weeks for me to take that extra weight back off. I considered going back up on dose. I'm now glad I didn't. But yeah, the minute I skipped a dose, the weight came pouring back on. And I didn't even feel like I was hungry or overeating or anything -- if I had, I would have felt more confident that I'd definitely forgotten my shot, and would have taken it.

I do have "food noise," which set in a couple of months after going to maintenance dosing, but not as much as I had when not on Wegovy at all. And I'm successfully maintaining. I do find myself eating more and more though -- which is concerning.

I *wasn't* 100% sure I'd forgotten.

Lost 50 pounds 3.5 years ago (highest dose of Wegovy), went off, gained back 30, went back on (back up to highest dose), lost the 30, and will stay on Wegovy 1.0 once a week forever. This way, the weight will not return

Hopefully not.

-- also on a maintenance dose of Wegovy

NP. I'm 7.5 Zepbound for past 5 months, 1 month each of 2.5 and 5.0. I've lost 35 pounds, lift weights 4 x per week. Now at maintenance for past 2 injections I've moved to 10 day full vial injections. I get hungrier towards the later days, but that balances out the loss of appetite the first several days. I may still lose a few more pounds, but I've reached a good weight without looking weirdly thin.

2.0 once every 4/5 weeks.

I don't think everyone is using the same scales... one person taking "7.5" and one person taking "1"

Vials? Units? Doses?

I lost 30 pounds on Tirzepitide last year in about 5 months. Highest dose was 5mg but I was mostly at 2.5. I started maintenance at 2.5 every two weeks last Summer and now I’m doing 2mg every two weeks because I woukd periodically lose weight at 2.5 every 2 weeks. I’d like to do 2.5 mg to help with inflamnation but I don’t want to lose any more weight. I don’t get “food noise”. My weight gain was from Peri + bad hypothyroid med dosing on my doctor’s part.

They're talking about different medications, zepbound/mounjaro and wegovy/ozempic have different dosing scales

I take 10 units of semaglutide weekly. 15 units if I need it.

I've been on maintenance for about 9 months now. I take 1 mg/week of tirzepatide. This is less than half of the 2.5 mg starting dose. It's working great. I still can't get over the miracle of GLP-1. I'm 48 years old and this is the first time in my life, since age 13, where I haven't been obsessing about food, counting calories, wrestling with myself over what I'm going to eat/trying not to eat, hating my body, being upset about my weight.

I'm at my dream weight and with one teeny weeny injection on Sundays, it's effortless.
