| Of our private school, 10 kids were accepted at UMD; only 1 will attend, the others going to Ivies or schools like Stanford, U Chicago, Brown, Duke, etc. Will UMD go down on their list to fill their spaces or they have enough people from OOS and other counties that are not MoCo? |
| Assuming this is some attempt to disparage UMD. How the hell could they reverse an admission decision? Low yield but consistent. They know how many to accept to get to their needed enrollment numbers. |
| They have plenty of students to fill their slots. Some years they have had housing shortages when the yield was better than expected. I think with the economy as it is, more kids will choose UMD. |
No Enjoy overpaying for tuition ✌️ |
| That sounds like a lot in a graduating class of what? 100-200? Not surprising rich kids parents buy their way in. |
| Hahahaha |
| Your kid is not getting into UMD. Help your kid move on. They are going to be fine. |
They would reverse a rejection only if they burn through the whole waitlist and burn through bumping Spring/ Freshman Connect admits to Fall and still need more butts in seats. |
UMD, PG County .
Be happy your DC will go elsewhere. It pales in comparison to UVA. |
You are a nasty person. Glad my kid is not surrounded by people like you at UVA. |
| No, when any college send out offers, they already take yield rate into consideration. That’s what waiting list for. |
If going to a so-called “prestigious” college makes people arrogant and obsessed with where they went to school, then I’m honestly glad my kids avoided that path. |
Thank you, I still have the question; what do they do if there are not enough students taking theses spots as UMD doesn't have a waitlist. Do they look into denied applicants who had good applications but there was no space for them? |
By no means, we really like UMD but kid was denied. We are wondering if there could still be a chance if the other students don't take the offer. |
| Wishful thinking, OP. I don't know why you're pointing to UMD. All colleges do this. They know, from years of data, how many kids will probably show up. They tend to err on the side of over-crowding. |
