| What? |

- layers: airports and planes seem hotter than ever but you never know
- lip stain - lots of moisturizer and sunscreen (help fully lock in the moisutrizer) on the plane - comfortable shoes - no eye makeup |
Hey, thanks for the no eye makeup tip! I'm flying to London this summer on an overnight. You are right - much better to just skip it than have it all smudged and smeared the next morning. It could be 8 hours walking around London before I can get into the hotel room to shower. |
| Contact lens case for small amounts of various creams, serums, or powders. |

Just keep it simple. I only take a small number of beauty products. ONE moisturizer, for example -- not a whole skin care regimen.
Classic clothes. Black pants, nice jeans. Mix and match tops to go with them. Wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane, and wear a sweater or jacket even if you don't think you need them -- then they're out of your suitcase. |
|
Do not wear wide-leg trousers to travel. When you go to the bathroom, they can puddle on the floor and soak up whatever is there.
A long-sleeved t-shirt will help when it gets cold if you don't feel like carrying an additional sweater. Also, wear your softest bra. Slather on your thickest facial moisturizer before leaving the house. Long flights can be so dehydrating to your skin that it can hurt for days afterwards. Carry wet wipes and spray hand sanitizer to help you avoid catching illnesses. After a long flight, get a massage or use an exfoliating body scrub in the shower to help shed the airplane bloat more quickly. |

Look into lounge shower access. We were able to shower in the BA arrivals lounge, before going about our day. I hate the disgusting feeling when you get off a long haul flight needing a shower and I'm sure not brushing my teeth in those disgusting plane bathrooms. Was really glad we were able to do this as traffic was awful and it was hours before we got to our hotel, and when we got there our room wasn't ready.
The alternative is getting a day room at an airport hotel so you can get off the plane and go shower there if you know it will be all day before you have access to your actual hotel room. Always worth it for me if I don't have lounge access to a shower. |
WTF? |
I'm guessing the PP is referring to how a self massage with an exfoliating scrub can increase blood flow, which reduces bloating. Same idea with getting a massage. A little bit of yoga, a short hot shower, and moisturizer application will have the same effect. I often incorporate short yoga sessions into travel because it helps so much for dealing with both travel stress and also the physical discomfort of sitting on a plane for 6+ hours or sleeping in a bed that is not your own. I have a bunch of 10-15 minute yoga or zero-prop workouts saved to my YouTube account that I can easily do in a hotel room for this exact purpose. |

If you're asking for tips, I'm guessing it's because you don't travel too often (no shame there!) so this might not be helpful. That said, the biggest improvement to my travel routine is that I gradually duplicated all my makeup and skin care items so that my toiletry bag is always ready to go. For items that didn't have under-3oz sizes, I invested in the Cadence containers.
I travel at least once a month, often more, and this has made it much easier! |

Good to have haves-
-mini travel toothbrushes with freshener or toothpaste loaded and floss pick on the other side - Tylenol and Advil -mini brush with mirror on it - agree on moisturizer and no eye makeup - body wipes If you forgot hair product then hotel lotion works great as a blow dry cream. If you have a meeting straight off the flight, use living proof blow dry cream and the revlon one step- it will stay clean enough for an exec presentation Agree with the poster who said scrub yourself in the shower |
| I buy cheap toothbrushes in bulk (like 200 at a time) and take one for each member of the family for each time we are changing hotels throughout the trip (or just one person if we are staying at the same place the whole time). At the end of each hotel stay, we throw the toothbrush away and open a new one at the next place. Toothbrush holders just gross me out. |
Pro tip: hotels have paper cups. |

How long are you going?
If it is just a weekend trip or overnight, get a contact lense case or two and put your face lotion, foundation, concealer, etc into it. Each side will hold several squirts, enough to take you through a weekend. |
