Travel dressing or makeup hacks

I buy toothpaste and other stuff from this website so I don't have to buy 100+ or whatever from Amazon. I don't travel that often so I don't want a lot.

If you are flying internationally, a Korean sheet mask on the plane does wonders for keeping your skin hydrated and fresh.

Olay makes face wash that is in solid strips that turn into suds when you get them wet. No liquids!

Peppermint oil capsules can help with airplane bloat/gas.

Capsule wardrobe - bring things that work together. For London, bring a coat and good solid shoes. Crossbody bag - something less pickpocket friendly. I like micellar face wipes for easy face cleaning.

I pack an extra pair of underwear in my purse or whatever is accessible under my seat (ie not my carryon that’s stored above the seats). Changing into fresh underwear after a long flight feels like a luxury.

-mini travel toothbrushes with freshener or toothpaste loaded and floss pick on the other side
- Tylenol and Advil
-mini brush with mirror on it
- agree on moisturizer and no eye makeup
- body wipes

If you forgot hair product then hotel lotion works great as a blow dry cream.

If you have a meeting straight off the flight, use living proof blow dry cream and the revlon one step- it will stay clean enough for an exec presentation

Agree with the poster who said scrub yourself in the shower

Wait, what? I wouldn't use hotel lotion on my body, much less in my hair!

DP - I use face lotion in my hair routinely, but I have thick coarse hair that needs extra moisture.

I hate the disgusting feeling when you get off a long haul flight needing a shower and I'm sure not brushing my teeth in those disgusting plane bathrooms. Was really glad we were able to do this as traffic was awful and it was hours before we got to our hotel, and when we got there our room wasn't ready.

The alternative is getting a day room at an airport hotel so you can get off the plane and go shower there if you know it will be all day before you have access to your actual hotel room. Always worth it for me if I don't have lounge access to a shower.

Some airports also have showers you can pay to use -- the German ones for sure, and they are always clean.

Hey, thanks for the no eye makeup tip! I'm flying to London this summer on an overnight. You are right - much better to just skip it than have it all smudged and smeared the next morning. It could be 8 hours walking around London before I can get into the hotel room to shower.

Also don’t be that person on the red eye doing your makeup in the plane bathroom when everyone just woke up and needs to pee. Nothing more entitled than the person waltzing out with a huge makeup bag, fully done up, when 6 people are standing there with their legs crossed.

I have frizzy hair and have done it in a pinch. Just don’t get it close to your roots and it will reduce the frizz on the dry parts. Lots of hotels actually have really nice lotion!

My long flight is always—
Compression socks
Sneakers
Jeans with some stretch or comfy joggers
Soft cotton bra
T shirt
Wrap cardigan
If cold, a puffer jacket that doubles as a lap blanket. Sometimes I’ll even pack a little light neck gaiter because my nose gets sooooo cold on some planes when th ac is on too high. Or a Covid mask.

Agree with others that capsule wardrobe is key and I try to only take pack 1 pair of shoes in addition to what I’m wearing so that often drives my choices. My last summer trip the most useful item I had was a light gauze shirt that went over tank tops with pants or over sundresses for extra coverage. I find I always want more t shirts and underwear but don’t need as many sweaters etc — you can rewear the top layers so just bring your most flattering 2 choices.

I also wear leggings and t shirt to sleep instead of Pjs in case for some reason you need to run to lobby to get something quickly. I started thr when my kids were babies and I’d need to get them out of room quickly if they started crying, before they woke up their siblings.

That said, the biggest improvement to my travel routine is that I gradually duplicated all my makeup and skin care items so that my toiletry bag is always ready to go. For items that didn't have under-3oz sizes, I invested in the Cadence containers.

I travel at least once a month, often more, and this has made it much easier!

Same! I keep minis of my favorite products along with any samples I receive in the toiletry bag I travel with and just keep it in a drawer. So I just pull it out when I travel - has made packing so much easier.

I also put under eye masks on for an hour or so before landing. Helps to depuff and feels nice!

For comfort - no bra on the plane. Drape a scarf so it falls over your chest. For when you need coverage, that and wear a darker colored shirt
