Williams Admitted Students day - recommendations needed

Anonymous
Anyone else heading to Admitted Students day this weekend?

Where is a good place to park the car (close to campus, and hopefully free?)

What are good places to eat???

Must-sees and must-dos on campus? around campus?

Really excited!

Go to the Clark. Great museum. Very manageable. Nice grounds if the weather is good. I'm not a big art person but loved it.

Congrats to your kid and Go Ephs! Admitted student weekend decades ago sealed the decision for me. Have a great time, no matter what your kid decides.

Sad to miss it (have a conflict.) Please report back how it goes.

Papa Charlie's is, indeed, a Williamstown institution. Not really my jam, but many people love it. Parking will be free, and definitely near some part of campus (biggest lots are, I think, at the end of Spring Street, the Greylock parking deck, or down past Mission Park.

If you like hiking, go tot he

Admitted Student's Weekend (as it was called back then), was why I chose Williams over Columbia and MIT. For me, it was the right choice.

Best of luck!

If you like hiking, go to Hopkins Forest or the top of Pine Cobble.

Also go down the road to North Adams and check out Mass MoCa. Awesome museum and cute town.

OP: thank you! Deciding bet/ Rice, CMU and Williams for a math major. leaning CMU (advanced math students wants quant). We did Rice last weekend and were very impressed by campus/students.

OP: just answered above as well. It's between Rice, CMU and Williams. Leaning Rice vs CMU (kid is an advanced student in pure math. either going to PhD or quant after undergrad).

We visited Rice Owl day over the weekend and I think DC loved it a lot - all the students there were great. Spoke to several math profs and math major students. I think the visit made the Rice vs CMU decision harder for DC!!!

Williams is still in the running for now, even though the lack of advanced/grad-level math classes is a major drawback. But I keep hearing the education is amazing at Williams so we have to go see it for ourselves, and give it a fair chance, at least!

^^ OP: want to add DC was shut out of all Ivys+MIT+Stanford+Caltech sadly. Decision week was really tough, and surprising since between (a substantial scholarship and financial aid) made Rice almost free, so we thought DC had a real chance with at least one Ivy. Nope. ZERO.

DC very disappointed - I think the big part that bothers us is that IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE!!!
