It's at least 13+. Probably more like 15.

As has been explained on here many times, Chicago likes kids from top private schools. If you are coming from Sidwell, NCS, STA you can almost count on admission if you have decently strong grades (say a 3.7 and up). Occasionally they will even admit a 3.5. This is not to say that every Chicago matriculant has a 3.7 because some of the matriculants are also towards the very top of the class with a 3.9+ and a shot at HYP but chose Chicago. But for others, Chicago it is the one top10 or even top20 university that is a pretty sure bet if you come from one of these high schools and are a reasonably strong student. Last year STA sent a full 10% of the graduating class to Chicago. They just really like private school kids, probably because they come full pay and they reliably know how to read, write and think very well as they've been trained for years to do so.

6 from our SF-based private as well, maybe more! All are good students, nothing crazy, but all solid kids.

$60k per year for HS, what's $95k for college?

Full pay, baby.

My kids go to public school but this is not surprising to me. Sidwell has a lot of great kids and a lot of wealthy families who can spend a lot of college. I would expect that a lot of them could get into Chicago and would want to apply.

Simple. Chicago has serious financial problems, and Sidwell students come with money for full pay tuition and beyond. It’s really a sad turn of events for such a storied institution.

There has already been another thread on this. It was deleted for a reason.

I’m a Sidwell parent. All of the kids going to Chicago this year are high performers and deserve it. I don’t want to speculate but I don’t believe everyone is full pay. Sidwell has a harsh cutoff at 1500 for Chicago per SCOIR. If your school reliably sends kids to the #1 school in the US for economics, why not shoot your shot?

Are you a salty STA parent?
