Agree on 2 and 3.

I believe in polygamy not monogamy.

I think teachers get paid what they deserve. I think they spend an inordinate amount of time decorating bulletin boards.

Don't they make $70-$85k in NYC?

I wish the county could be split into two by political affiliation. Conservative vs Liberal. Everyone in the middle can choose sides.

I think children under 6 should not be in othercare more than 40 hours per week. 30 is preferable.

Obama was speaking truth when he spoke about Christianity's history at the National Prayer Breakfast. The R's panties are in a wad because they are willfully ignorant about the history of their own religion.

Many of today's issues and polarization stem from the systematic breakdown of the wall between church and state. I blame Ronald Regan, he gave the religious right legitimacy and a voice in politics.

Doesn't anyone think, WTF, why is there a National Prayer Breakfast in the first place?

For the record, I'm not anti religion. I still participate in my own and am involved in my congregation but I don't believe anyone's religion should be shaping public policy.

Exemptions from birth control mandates, exemptions from vaccination, no funding for abortions in any circumstances ever. It is all bullshit. We've gone too far in this public accommodation of religion.

It seems like our society values working outside of the home above all else, particularly children and family life.

Yep, more men should stay at home.

Really? Then why are my friends from HS who never got college degrees or left our hometown constantly posting all over facebook about how great and meaningful being a SAHM is and how it is more important than any job? I constantly see people degrading women for working out of the home as opposed to valuing parents who work above SAH.

And I agree -- if people are so upset about dual working parents, then more men can volunteer to stay home, but I have a feeling that is not what the PP of this post means.

I am the pp. i don't think that a parent should stay home necessarily but i don't think it should be a dishonorable choice. I do think maternity leave is very short and infant care is scarce - and expensive. Taking extended time off unpaid to care for your baby? Good luck getting back into the workforce. Two career dedicated parents = snow day catastrophe when kids are school aged, according to a recent thread. The poster was advised to have a long list of back up caretakers (herself and husband not included on list of course) and a few posters expressed relief that they didn't have to work with someone with child care issues. Babies in group daycares up to 10 hours a day? Perfectly common. Baby's need for one on one attention? Well that must not be true if both parents HAVE to work 10 hours a day. So what i saying is that our society does not seem to value children and family life. That is all.

Ok, yes, our society doesn't value families all that much. It values the almighty dollar, though. Above all us.

If we cared about helping families, we'd have mandatory maternity leave, way better vacation time, cheaper child care, more flexible work (job sharing/flextime), free health insurance, etc, etc. I mean, really, our priorities are all kinds of backwards.

Above all else, not us. Stupid phone.
