He’s a really poor speaker for a TV presenter. Would have thought he could least pull off a speech. But I guess he’s just unqualified all around.

He really is a poor public speaker. As someone who went to Princeton and Harvard, it's pretty shocking that he's so poorly spoken.

Years of alcoholism probably caught up with him. I'm wondering how he was admitted to Princeton undergrad.

Athletic scholarship

"Hegseth studied at Princeton University, where he majored in politics. According to Reserve & National Guard Magazine, he chose Princeton over an offer from the United States Military Academy for Princeton's men's basketball program, the Tigers."

That explains a lot.

I mean, I guess that's not really surprising.

It is not surprising. It is been clear for years that Trump does not care about governing, much less serving this country. What others see as senility, I see as utter boredom. He does not care.

He DOES care about: not going to jail, money, revenge. And in a pathetic, super easy to manipulate for the narcissist, validation.

+1
This summary would make a great “sticky” for every thread about Trump. He also used to care about “grabbing p@@@y” but is too old for that now.

OF COURSE there are more Signal chats with classified information on them.

He’s not up until 2028.

Meh.
The way Trump is going he’s only going to be left with the true cultists. The decimation of the economy was not really expected. Lankford is probably the beginning of the end of Trump’s sway.

He was also a diversity admit. Geographic diversity. I’ve lost count of how many rural kids with Ivy degrees don’t notice that they are DEI.

Nah--I mean, he went to Princeton because he wanted to go to Princeton over West Point, not because he had some great basketball ambitions. They called him a "recruiting afterthought."
https://paw.princeton.edu/article/what-was-defense-secretary-nominee-pete-hegseth-03-princeton

Hegseth played varsity basketball and served as a company commander for the ROTC. On the basketball team he “patiently toiled in obscurity” for four years, according to The Daily Princetonian, which also described Hegseth as “a recruiting afterthought.” When he was called off the bench in March of his senior year and made two 3-pointers that allowed the Tigers to best Columbia, he “beamed as he reflected on taking a leading role.”

Or Lankford has a soul and puts country and the lives of our military over party.

Not surprising. But what is Congress doing? They have oversight committees.

so let me get this straight: protecting our national security hinges on which media outlet is first to report a breach?

CNN did a spot with the Ragin Cagin about this being the admins health spiral. He predicted it would come by Memorial Day and is impressed with this implosion.
