Won't happen. MCPS spends millions to make sure they don't have to pay out for lawsuits. Think this is the first time MCPS has faced lawsuits?

It would not be the first time MCPS and individual staff members pressure the complainants for these types of cases to sign NDAs.

It also would not be the first time MCPS has paid financially to make a problem go away.

Let’s be clear. MCPS isn’t paying. We, as taxpayers, are paying. MCPS is a public school system, funded by taxpayers.

Which is why we, as taxpayers, have a right to know how many cases were settled, for how much money, and why.

+1 For every case settled, MCPS should tell taxpayers what changes they are going to make to keep the situation from happening again. There needs to be transparency but also accountability.

The politics of Montgomery County and the state of Maryland don’t support that kind of transparency and accountability.

Let a legislator propose it and let MCPS show its true colors when it opposes it.

Well the politicians on the County Council, including the Education Committee, truly showed which politicians can be bought and where their interests lie. Only two stood up immediately for an independent investigation BEFORE the MCPS investigation is concluded. For those aspiring for higher political office, I say that they lost my vote.

MCPS is in the crapper because leadership uses its power for their own personal gain and gratification. It’s a system where those who have connections get promoted no matter how badly they treat their subordinates. MCPS is a system where they threaten those who complain into silence. It’s a system of cronyism that reaches beyond the Board of Education to the County Council and State Department of Education. There’s nothing to check the abuse of power, hence why a person who had 18 complaints of sexual harassment and bullying went ignored.

Give it a rest already. You'd still have a job if you were the least bit competent.

You mean documented cases of sexual harassment.

All 18 did not report sexual harassment…
You all really want to make this man out to be some pervert yet you attended every out of school function that he invited you to.

You seem to be in the know. Do you think the report from Jackson Lewis will also blame the victims?

What number of sexual harassment complaints is an acceptable number? Are the bullying complaints acceptable? Do you think it was ok that MCPS ignored his bad behavior and promoted him?

In my opinion, one case should be enough to let him go. He is not leadership material. The fact that there were 18 complaints - a combination of sexual harassment and bullying - that were supported by witnesses and written documentation, MCPS shouldn’t have promoted him and he should have been fired well before the Washington Post article.

NP - It’s a typical MCPS tactic to blame victims for these types of cases. Jackson Lewis represents MCPS and the Board of Education. They will have to defend the actions of MCPS and the Board during the subsequent investigations and potential lawsuits.

From the weekly Jawondo report:

“As an MCPS parent, I share the deep concern regarding how the school system handled allegations related to a principal. I was the first member of the County Council to urge an impartial investigation regarding these allegations. As Chair of the Education and Culture Committee, my colleagues and I have requested additional information and we will hold a hearing on September 28.”

He is such a liar! Just ignore all the money you’re receiving from this law firm and how you first did NOT support an independent investigation and the did NOT sign the letter from council requesting an independent investigation.

+1 The Education and Culture Committee is also waiting for Jackson Lewis to FINISH its investigation. How is that supportive of an independent investigation? Jackson Lewis and lawyers with the firm are also Jawando’s biggest campaign contributors.

Will you be saying the same thing when consensually sent nude pictures and sexual text exchanges of these teachers show up?

IF *IF* that happened, and we have no idea if that is true- its still grossly inappropriate for a supervisor to do that with subordinates.

It is grossly inappropriate for any adult to do this in the work place. And mostly inappropriate because his children were their students and he was married at the time. This whole thing is grossly inappropriate.

Is that how MCPS and Jackson Lewis plan to make these cases go away? By extorting people who complained? Releasing revenge porn is a misdemeanor in Maryland, so it’s not workable as a defense strategy.

That’s not revenge porn when someone’s job is on the line when they are being accused of harassment.

No, it’s revenge porn to release intimate pictures of someone on the Internet without their permission. No reputable organization or law firm would participate in it, but sadly that means it’s not out of play for MCPS.
