What do you think our chances are of getting into Latin or Deal? My kid hasn’t been in a language immersion program, so I’m also wondering how DCI might be if we get off the waitlist. Would love any insight or advice!
Latin Cooper - 14 Latin 2nd St - 18 Deal - 3 DCI Spanish - 26 DCI French - 11 DCI Chinese - 11 Inspired - Matched |
| Why not Deal? Looks like you're in |
m Last year’s data says they took only 2 offers from the waitlist so it’s touch and go. And Latin also seems impossible unless they add a class( which is hard to imagine for 7th) or something big changes. |
| I think there were no spots at all off the waitlist for Spanish at DCI last year and I would expect the same this year. |
The past waitlist data says 12 offers made for grade 6 last year for DCI Spanish |
| I’d be very cautious about DCI if your kid doesn’t speak the language they’d be going in for. We are not even considering it for our kid, and wouldn’t consider even later grades elementary. |
| DCI will likely not have enough spots for feeder kids this year. |
We have had kids from our non immersion charter go there. My understanding was that they have beginner level language classes for those starting anew. |
| that looks like you had a good number. i think dci french is the waitlist that will move. |
| I doubt Deal will take kids until after school starts, to leave room for kids who live or move IB. Curious why you didn't rank Hardy--or maybe you put it under ITDS? |
They prioritize feeder kids. There is no way non-feeder kid is going to get spanish. |
| Stuart-Hobson in the 90s. Anyone have a worse number there? |
| SH waitlist was a little over a hundred kids last year and they only took a few off it. This year seems like it has more students lotterying for 6th too. |

NP Hardy 60…
It seems there were only 2 spots last year but over 100 moved through the wait list. Can anyone explain what actually happened? |
Yes, 130! |
