The past waitlist data says 12 offers made for grade 6 last year for DCI Spanish

those offers were likely made to students from feeder schools, who were over their schools' contracted spots at DCI. Basically, no one from non-feeder schools is being admitted to DCI's Spanish track anymore.

Why do you say that? Students with no foreign language experience at DCI take beginner language class, and are not eligible for classes taught in target language until they achieve intermediate level. Most DCI classes are taught in English. It's not an immersion school.

Yeah it’s definitely not an immersion school. There are just chances to take language at higher levels. Your kid would just start at level one.

Yes and also I think there is at least for some schools a sibling preference for feeder schools for newly admitted/enrolled sibling at the feeder. That would be a second level preference on the list.

Latin Cooper - 14
Latin 2nd St - 18
Deal - 3
DCI Spanish - 26
DCI French - 11
DCI Chinese - 11
Inspired - Matched

Latin takes 0 - 2 kids in per year in grades 6th - 8th. I have heard of many siblings not getting spots in those grades, so I assume you will not get in to either Latin.

But congrats on ITDS! It's a wonderful school and community!

ITDS is a good school for the right kid. Personally, I wouldn’t touch DCI with a 10 foot pole right now considering all the drama between staff and the administration.
Consider submitting a post-lottery application for EH, Wells, or Brookland. Despite what DCUM thinks (based solely on CAPE scores), there are cohorts of high-achieving kids at all three of those MS.

Is Ida Wells a good middle school?

Be prepared to see those waitlist number to increase because you will be jumped by possibly siblings. I went from 2 to 4 at a NW elementary school

The aggregate waitlist for DCI Spanish among the partner elementary schools is 45. Your 25 is actually 71.

For DCI French, your true number is 15.

Do people in feeder schools on the Spanish track waitlist have a preference for non Spanish seats?

My daughter is #6 at Stuart Hobson and she going to 6th grade. I’m hoping we make it.
