As a 56 yo post-menopausal woman

Anonymous
Is there anything I can do short of a tummy tuck to improve my belly? I am 5'6 135 lbs and I workout regularly. I could probably lose another five pounds. I had two c-sections twenty years ago. I've always had a small belly even when I weighed ten pounds less. However, once peri-menopause hit the weight shifted to my middle. I do have some definition in my mid-section. I really hate the flabby belly fat above my c-section scar. Any suggestions for targeting the area? I've read that I should do planks instead of crunches.

1. Have you checked your height? It's fairly common to lose 1-2 inches in your spine. You may have excess skin not fat. 2. Or, alcohol encourages fat retention around the middle. When I was about your age, I stopped drinkling totally as part of a diet program and the "shelf" went away.

Do you work your obliques and psoas muscles? These can improve posture and act as an internal corset, of sorts. I am 54, 2 c sections and I work these muscle groups as part of my PT for a bad back. I'm 10 lbs oner fighting weight, but my stomach and waist look pretty good.

Get the tummy tuck. I did and regret not doing it sooner. Once you see the results, you'll be motivated to maintain it
