$10,000 for logo grocery bags

Who decides that logo grocery bags are more important that classroom supplies like copy paper?

No accountability or transparency as Taylor promised.

There's already a thread for these grievances:

Why don't you ask Jeff to change the other thread's title to something more generic like "budget mismanagement" and pile all your separate grievances in there?

Like there is one thread for "guns found in schools".

Shut up Janice. These bags are used to give students free school supplies and program literature at the Back to School fair and other MCPS events for students and families.

What is up with this stupid substack and its petty grievances all the time? Is this the Queen Mad Mommy of MoCo who is Big Mad about everything?

You know what people think of someone who's always angry, right? They're disregarded as cranks because nothing pleases them. Their anger ceases to be effective.

As soon as you see Parents Coalition, know that it belongs in the trash.

Did Parents Coalition admins go to MCPS for elementary school? Is that why they are so bad at math?

They don't need logoed bags; they can use a plastic or paper bag for much cheaper. Then, use the money for what's really needed - give teachers the school supplies instead to give to the kids who need it, give them paper, tissues, cleaning supplies, etc.

What do you have to offer? Nothing.

Nothing is preferable to manure and trash

Janice it is unbelievable (but actually not) how ignorant you are about large public system budgets, yet you constantly post about it. MCPS does not operate like someone managing their personal checking account where you decide not to buy one thing and suddenly have money for something else. School system budgets are broken into specific categories with specific uses. Money allocated for operational materials or outreach items cannot just be shifted over to classroom supply budgets because someone on the internet thinks it would be a better use. Same with CIP money that cannot be used for the Operating budget funds, yet you still have not learned the difference.

And the suggestion to “just use plastic bags” is especially ironic considering Montgomery County banned plastic bags years ago. That policy has been in place long enough that most residents are aware of it. The more you post the dumber you make yourself look.

You are unbelievable as this isn't a necessary expense. They are reducing special education, they got rid of critical programs like the virtual school saying they had money issues. Now they are on a spending spree. Teachers regularly go without what they need or it comes out of pocket or parent donations, which is rare in a lower income school. Its not a good look for schools to go without paper, soap, toliet paper, paper towels, pencils, and more so MCPS can give out fabric logoed bags. All these things add up which is the point. So, get paper bags and a stamper to put the logo on if the logo is so important.
