I wanted to see if anyone had this issue. 5’4 (128 lbs) down from 142.
- Eat lots of veggies and fairly clean, about 1400 calories, good amount of protein - hypothyroid, autoimmune issues, on synthroid 125 - on lexapro for anxiety, 15mg - workout 7 days a week hot power vinyasa yoga - weight routine 2x a week - 10k steps a day I cannot control my weight without a glp. I microdose and take the lowest dose for 1 year. . What do you think is the main issue for me? |
| Do you have an underlying medical condition that causes insulin resistance? |
No I don’t. But hypothyroidism sucks. |
| The main issue is that your body's natural setpoint weight is 142 even though you don't like it and society tells you you're fat. |
The lexapro. I am on effexor and many SSRIs and SSNIs cause insulin resistance. Metformin has been a lifesaver since I went off my glp 1 |
Yep. |
DP. Agree, sorry to say. Or are you sure about the food intake? 1400 calories is low for all the exercise you do. |
Agree. How old are you? 142 at your height is completely in the normal range for an average middle aged woman. |
This. 5'4" and 142 is a perfectly fine weight, OP. |
| I’m 45 |
| Don’t drink a ton, maybe 2 glasses of wine a week. |
| Your weight was controlled at 142 |

I’m finding it shocking how few calories my body requires to hold onto its weight. I am 53 and doing WeightWatchers for the first time in many years. I wanted to do a GLP but other expenses got in the way so the old fashioned way it is.
I am just over the line into obesity, so this isn’t vanity weight. It isn’t those last hard 5 pounds. WW has given me the fewest points/calories their program will do. My diet has become oatmeal, fruit, vegetables, lean protein, and the olive oil to make it palatable. If I am a really good girl I have room to add an ounce of chocolate. In three weeks I have lost 3/4 of a pound. It’s not nothing, it’s going in the right direction…but man. Menopause sucks. |
| For your height 1200 calories would be enough - if you want to keep your current weight. |
|
I don’t have an answer for you, OP. I’m in a similar boat, though. I have chalked mine up to menopause.
A couple of questions - what happens when you go off the glp1? I’m guessing you start to gain so you go back on quickly. Maybe your body just needs to acclimate to being off the glp1, is that possible? So possibly you’d gain 5 lbs when you first go off it, but if you stay off it your body adjusts and either you dont gain more (so you reset your base at 133 lbs) or you gradually adjust back to 128 lbs. Also, are you tracking what you eat? If not, start to do so. You may see that you actually intake more than 1400 cal or that you could make better choices with those calories. I believe that you mostly eat clean, but sometimes little cheats work into our days without realizing it, and tracking shows that. Also, I support you and these questions. Speaking for my 5’4” self, 128 lbs or even less is a much healthier place for my body than 140 lbs. |
