Who would DCUM vote as the Greatest American of All Time ? Who’s your vote going to?
I’m undecided. I lean toward Franklin D. Roosevelt but would love to hear responses. Sidebar - I never realized Thomas Edison was born in 1847 and died in 1931. |
| Frederick Douglass |
| Lincoln, FDR, Harriet Tubman, MLK, Jr. Too many to decide. |
| Jeff |
| Harriet Tubman and it’s not close! |
| Harriet Tubman is a good one. Teddy Roosevelt. |
| Me. |
| The clear answer is Abraham Lincoln. Saved the country, gave it a renewed sense of purpose and ended slavery for once and for all. Most of the other great Americans were particular to their time or cause, but Lincoln really does transcend all of them. |
| Another vote for me. |

Do you want to specify greatest USA citizen or are we going broader American (Canada, central, south, etc)?
If USA only? Mister Fred Rogers. No contest. |

Canadiens etc are not Americans. Just fyi for those of you who had a hard time in school. |
| TRUMP |

Lincoln gets way too much credit. He happened to be the President at a time when inevitable change was happening. He arguably caused the war itself, or made it more costly. The emancipation proclamation was a military tactic. Slavery was going to end regardless.
Harriet Tubman is the better answer here. |
