According to the commissioner, there will be a formal announcement in May. Probably around the same time they announce new league formations, etc. |
That Kyle Wilson guy on Instagram just mentioned civil war between MLSN/ECNL.
MLSN/GA staying BY ECNL going School year. MLSN/2 will stay birth year and most of their lower affiliated leagues will be SY. |
No where did he mention GA was staying BY |
I think right now it's all posturing about next season over possible "transition" plans. |
That’s what I heard as well. Hoping for earlier May before we sign with a club. I don’t want to switch clubs again |
More Cold War than civil war as the two leagues were never together… That being said, MLSN2 is 100% SY, so this dude is way out of the loop. |
My club director MLSN2 said they have not given official rules out but mentioned MLSN2 probably SY MLSN1 BY but clubs can bioband their players if they get moved up. |
He did not. They probably assumed given the team up between MLSN/GA. |
If this is true (source?), I would expect GA to go SY. There is no need to formally announce if you are staying status quo. |
Source was directly from the commissioner. They know people are asking so I wouldn’t say just because they will announce something means they will go SY. I think it will be a general info release on new teams added, leagues, and what they plan on doing moving forward. I’m leaning towards them staying BY but who knows. |
I didn’t miss the point. I contended that the majority of countries around the world’s use of BY are not aligned with their SY. Now you’re furthering that lie with “vast majority”. The countries that use SY, plus the countries that align SY in labeling BY, still doesn’t add up to the majority. Far from “vast majority”, they are a minority. Jan 1- Dec 31 of given year is the standard of age grouping in “vast majority” of countries for every sport. But, I’m just a concerned citizen that is spitting into the wind as the decision was already made. The rest of this thread is made up of parents trying to justify and rationalize why they want their kid to play against younger kids. |
BY tinfoil-hats now looking to Kyle Wilson for salvation…seems clear that all of youth soccer will be SY including GA and MLSN… |
Most countries also use BY for school grade ages, so when countries that use BY for school grades use BY for sports leagues, that country’s age group for sports aligns with its SY (since BY and SY are the same in that country). So most countries that use BY do so because in that country BY=SY. This has been established many pages ago. |
The false propaganda was posted many pages ago. It wasn’t established. Simple fact check- eligibility for U-17 FIFA World Cup is someone born on or after January 1st of that given year. Zero considerations for the plethora of formulas and stats posted here. Jan 1 - Dec 31 is the same standard used in every sport for youths in international sports. |
I heard GA still hadn't decided officially BUT that most GA clubs want to and do now encourage their teams to play HS (except for a few that have never changed since the start of GA). If that's the case, why would they not switch to SY? |
