Winter MAP scores are up

Back to getting them up within a couple weeks of the testing window closing, thank goodness!

Yes I was stalking them! Glad these things are being shared more smoothly

DCUM for the win. Thanks for posting so I didn't have to stalk.

Why are you stalking them?

Not for my kid, maybe it depends on the school?

Up for mine, thank you OP although teacher sent the scores home on post its a few weeks ago…

I see the note about the norms change — anyone know where to find the latest norms?

Just curious how rare for kids to score 290 in MAP M winter for 5th grader?

My 8th grader had 299 in MAP M in the fall. 290 for 5th grader is extremely rare. I would say you kid is very gifted.

Was told my 7th grader would not be doing a Winter MAP. Is that true?

Sorry: to clarify it was my kid’s teacher who said this and she said it as if this was standard across MCPS.

That’s what I’m trying to see if it’s true or not.

Why do you ask? You know what you have been doing to train your kid.

This year much less work is being sent home. For me MAP is an important data point. I help proctor MAP at my own school so it’s also data I understand and use to adjust our home support. We are participating in the IXL pilot and needed the scores to input into the program for accurate.

Winter MAP is not required for MS, but some still do it. Ours requires MAP-M and MAP-R for grades 6-8.

I also follow my kids’ scores for similar reasons. One of my DCs has a 504 for reading so I’m ver curious about CKLA. Their scores dropped every time last year but are now slowly going up. The vocabulary continues to be low but the school doesn’t nothing to teach decoding skills to upper elementary grades. Instead, my kid was in a FIT group working on how to write the sentence style responses to word problems in Eureka Math where it asks to explain your thinking. My compacted math kid had a huge bump on the MAP-M (from average high to high). Unsure why there isn’t concern about the reading

How rare is Map-M 201 for first grade? DD loves math. Does CES take into consideration map-M?
