I live about two miles from this incident and drove by the police investigating it the other day (yes, fully aware the Rt. 1 area is dicey, my neighborhood is not and I've been happy here).
Long story short: earlier this week, there was a (seemingly) random murder of a woman waiting for the bus. The person of interest (who is now in custody) has a rap sheet a mile long and has been charged with malicious wounding (at least four times); rape (which was not prosecuted); and numerous other offenses like drunk in public, trespassing, and larceny. Why in the world was this person not in jail? I don't mean for this to be a political post but I'm appalled this sort of person is allowed to walk amongst us. And very sorry it may have cost this woman her life. https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/crime/woman-dies-trauma-fairfax-county-bus-stop-police-say/65-43cd9a0d-fc22-4354-95b7-18b02dc15cd5 |
| These reason we keep seeing stories like this repeat themselves is bc the local government likes to slap people on the wrist for crimes. Prosecutors are not prosecuting, police aren't motivated to do their jobs and on top of that encouraging people to not file reports all the while mis-categorizing crimes to make it look like crimes is going down when it's not. Rinse and repeat. |
| Democrats think they are smart. And they prove otherwise over & over & over & over & over. But thy aren’t smart enough to know they are stupid. So they keep going. |
| Certain politicians and posters on this forum think everyone, including severely mentally ill, should be allowed to camp out anywhere they choose and ride public transportation, etc. They express little concern for victims. |
+1 Alexandria is like this remember the guy the liberal judge let out and he went and killed his accuser. I still can't fathom how that wasn't national news. |
The accuser was a women, so, no big deal. Remember, MAGA hate women. |
| There is so much panhandling in that area and all along Route 1. Some are very aggressive and wander through traffic or knock on your window. One guy in particular seems like he is always on something, and I can’t believe he hasn’t been hit over the years. I really wish it was illegal and enforced. |
| Prosecutors are not prosecuting. |
You can’t blame this on the cops. If that was the case then the guy wouldn’t have had a rap sheet a mile long. Police have obviously done their jobs and arrested this guy over and over but the prosecutors aren’t putting him away. |

Men run the system and they don’t really care about rape.
Even if a guy is convicted of rape, they might get 18 months. Male judges are not putting men in jail for rape. This is not conservative. This is not liberal. This is not blue. This is not red. It’s everywhere. And that’s if they can on the rarest of rare occasions, get a conviction. Because men believe women are liars and they actually need at least 10 pieces of evidence, physical evidence to prove that the woman didn’t “ask for it.” This is not liberal. This is not conservative. This is men. |
This. I’m horrified by the decision recently to let Gret Glyer’s killer plead not guilty by reason of insanity. The case is horrific and I’d bet dollars to donuts the man will be on the streets in a few years after killing a man as he slept in his bed next to his wife that the murderer was obsessed with. Fairfax has a worthless prosecuter who cares far more about leniency for the guilty than justice for the innocent. |
| This isn't Alexandria. It's Fairfax County. |
"As long as he takes his medication, he doesn't pose a threat to any one." |
| It's not a policing issue. In DC, the police commissioner noted that the average murder suspect has 11 felonies. So these people have been arrested numerous times. But judges don't sentence violent men to real jail time anymore. It's a problem throughout the area. And it reflects the political priorities of those we've elected to power. Local Democrats generally don't care about the victims of violent men. We see that year after year. |
+1 And it's one of the main reasons someone like Trump won. Voters associate liberal DAs and judges with Democrats. |
