rewatching ER - discuss

I loved this show back in the day, especially the first 5 seasons or so. I’m rewatching it inspired by The Pitt.

It completely holds up, I still love it and it remains my favorite medical drama (I’m old enough to have watched Chicago Hope, ER, Grey’s and now The Pitt). I forgot how much the show brings awareness to aids issues.

Also, there are so many actors who have bit parts on the show! I don’t mean guest stars (plenty of those, too), but ones who were not yet but later became famous.

Hands down it’s my all time favorite medical drama. So many great memories.

Yes! Did you see Lucy Lu? She had a bit part at the beginning of season 2. I rarely watched it growing up (and I was the right age for watching it) but also got into it with my fam after watching the Pitt and loving it. The first season of er was slow and uneven but it gets better (obviously!).

I loved him too.

He's SO hot. It's a shame the actor was a total jerk. His character was a better person than the real person. But the way he said "Abby" really did me in.

He is very attractive and I loved his damaged character. As for the actor, I never read that he is a jerk? I did read that Noah Wylie was an a-hole to him, and to many of the other actors who joined the cast (like Kellie Martin), and later publicly owned his behavior.

I didn’t love that Luca wound up with Abby - I respect Maura Tierney as an actress, but feel like she never has chemistry with any of her male leads (not Luca nor Carter in ER, not in The Affair, not in Newsroom).

I am doing a re-watch of ER too! Loved seeing Mariska Hargitay at the front desk—this was before SVU. Noah Wiley was so cute and clean cut in this show. I can’t get used to his messy beard in The Pit. I sporadically look up the main doctor characters to see what they are doing now.

St Elsewhere is a good rewatch, as well.

The arc with Mare Winningham was wild. The funny thing is that in real life she wound up marrying Anthony Edwards.

Oh yes. She did not have chemistry with Dave Foley.

Mmm, yes, he was gorgeous.

(But really, all of them were. I even liked Mark Green, probably the least conventionally attractive one.)

I tried to rewatch it. Only made it through Season 8 - it feels as if the quality of there story lines fell off a cliff then.
