Fordham tuition award- how much are people getting?

Anonymous
Does anyone know if the Fordham tuition award is something that everyone gets? The amount is unspecified on their website and seems to be different than need-based grants. My child got a tuition award of 26k plus a $10k Jogues scholarship.

I've heard Fordham has gotten stingier with merit but we were pleasantly surprised by $36k total.

I think that's good. My child got $33k/year.

If y’all don’t mind sharing, what stats did your children have to receive that merit grant? Congratulations!

My DD got $22,500 for the tuition award and another $12,500 for the Loyola Scholarship totaling $35K a year.

35 ACT (superscore)
3.95 UW GPA w/ rigor
Catholic coming from a Catholic HS
Lots of service and faith activities

Unless you really, really need the money, with those stats I would hope you are aiming for better than Fordham. No offense to Fordham - lovely place - but you can do better.

Mine got $25/year merit plus an $8k/year need-based grant which I thought was interesting. I didn’t apply for need based aid.

DC got $36k, very happy!

My DC also got $33k. Not attending. Probably a waste of an application.

What a weird thing to say. Any school that gives 35K in merit is working to attract high stats students relative to their own stats. Pretty much by definition, you can always "do better" or they wouldn't have offered the student that award.

There are so many things to consider when choosing a school: Fit (which no stranger on DCUM can judge), location, culture, programs, etc. But being wanted there is also a big thing. If they are offering a lot of money, it's because they want you there. They think you will do well there.

+1 Why do the ghouls on this board have to make comments like this? Perhaps this family is committed to a Jesuit education and they are chasing merit. Maybe the student is aiming for Georgetown, ND,or BC and this is just what sensible list building looks like. Either way your comments are ignorant and unwelcome on this thread.

Congrats to your student!

All of the Jesuits schools my child applied to were around that same range for merit

To clarify - these were what I would call regional schools. Schools similar to Fordham, SLU, St. Joes, Marquette

OP here. Congratulations to those who were accepted and also those who received merit!

Funny someone should mention Notre Dame; I'm an alum and my kid has NO interest in attending ND at all. She got into better ranked schools than Fordham but Fordham is a great fit for her and we aren't going to denigrate $36k in merit/aid!
