| No one is riding bikes in this weather. The plows can't clear them. And we need that extra lane of traffic more than ever in this snow. |
| That seems short-sighted for a rare event like this. |
| I think the bike lanes should have been a good place to store the snow. |
|
There should be more bike lanes.
They should also shutdown all of rockville pike. Make it 100% walkable or bikeable only. Run a single lane tram up and down the whole way. American car culture is ridiculously stupid and needs a horrific death. That starts by making driving a very painful chore. |
+1. The state and county don’t seem to have consider snow removal when they designed and installed the bike lanes. |
Evan Glass checking in. |

The bike lane on Montgomery is a stupid disaster and I curse the county council every time I head home from downtown Bethesda.
The bike lane on the West side of Wisconsin, between Wisconsin and Woodmont, causes huge backups and is a general Sh!tshow for anyone trying to cross Wisconsin. There are few enough East-West roads in lower MoCo and they have made one more difficult to cross. I have never once seen anyone bike in that lane and I am on that street several times a week. Then there’s the stupid one block bike lane on the east side of Wisconsin that goes to nowhere. They also didn’t leave enough room for the hotel so cars in front of that block the lane. It’s a mess. I don’t get the point of having bike lanes on OGR that don’t go all the way into Bethesda. I also never see anyone on them. I know I should applaud bike lanes but in some places they just don’t work. |
| No one uses half these bike lanes when it's 70 degrees out. |
Sounds like you should probably go back to whatever European country you came from. |
| Bike lanes are worthless. Hardly used. Take up space needed for cars and busses creating more congestion and smog. When I see these lanes there may be one person at most using them. What a colossal mistake. |
Just wait until the realization sets in that they made this snowstorm exponentially worse. |
Agree with this 💯 |
It's infeasible to achieve your goal of making America car free. America is vast and has large areas that are sparsely populated. Car share has been tried and is barely successful. Uber and Lyft do not remove cars from garages and actually increase traffic. Taxpayers don't like funding even successful public transit and would rather wfh than commute on it. America outside of a few large cities requires cars. Nobody is going to walk or go back to farm wagons. |
| PP. Driving up and down Rockville Pike is already a painful chore. And people who shop mostly want to be protected from the elements while they are transporting their purchases. |
Close the nominations! THIS is already the stupidest post of 2026! No other post can possibly approach its level of moronic cluelessness. |
