Yes, a few feet of bike lanes are the reason traffic and therefore drivers are miserable.
Without those bike lanes, we could all be driving Super Duty trucks instead. That would solve all our problems. |

Newsflash dimwitted drivers: study after study after study has shown that more lanes and roads don't reduce traffic and congestion at all. You know what more lanes and roads do? They end up encouraging people to keep living further and further out and drive more and more, which ends up causing more traffic and not solving anything. We waste billions of dollars building and maintaining more and more roads, yet traffic keeps getting worse. Just look at Texas - it is a dystopian urban planning sh!thole. Many of their cites have 5 lanes roads and highways that are massively wide. And guess what? They still have nightmarish traffic.
US infrastructure and urban planning is a disaster. We have tried the stupid experiment of more roads constantly for the last 80 years, yet traffic in the DMV is horrific. Go to a country with way better infrastructure and urban planning where stupid ass cars aren't the main focus of infrastructure. It is so much more amazing getting around with zero cars. Plus there are far fewer fat asses like Americans because people actually walk every day instead of driving. You also save huge amounts of money by not pissing away tens of thousands of dollars buying stupid cars, and on maintenence/fuel/insurance. The more roads experiment has failed. Accept defeat graciously. Make it much more difficult to drive. That way habits change. More bike lanes. More closed roads. More nightmarish traffic that crushes peoples' souls into bone dust so they're too traumatized to drive anywhere. |
Enjoy standing in the subzero wind chill in the winter, and being a sitting duck for any brigand who comes along, while waiting for your “tram.” |
You’ll notice that the people in charge of such things in your meticulously planned dream cities are more than happy to have their own cars (or motorcades) while pushing the rabble onto overcrowded, hot, smelly, derelict and crime infested cattle cars. Oh, and don’t forget essentially inaccessible to the disabled. |
Newsflash: more lanes don’t reduce congestion because more stuff gets built when you add transportation infrastructure. I like it when stuff gets built. Maybe you think stuff getting built is a negative because you’re a NIMBY. If you’re against the roads, you’re also against all the stuff that gets built as a result of having more road capacity. |
I think the bell rang. Time to go to geometry class. |

You can roughy gauge how miserable drivers are by the number of posts blaming bikes for their misery.
You'll blame everything but the actual problem, which is the basic geometry of it all. That's why you'll always be miserable and lashing out. |
You sound like Trump trying to rationalize why people hate him. Maybe people hate them (and him) because they earned it? |
Even bicyclists think bicyclists are a**holes. |
How about you move to a city center somewhere and leave the rest of us alone? |
| The reason the bike lanes exist in downtown Bethesda is because the County / State wouldn't pay to run the Capital Crescent Trail alongside the purple line tracks in the tunnel under Wisconsin Ave and the Air Rights Center (it's called that because they have Air Rights over the old railroad.) To be clear, this was the promise made when this project was "sold" to the public during the Civil War. Now, they have created a useless bike lane nightmare that no one understands and the intersection of Bethesda Ave and Woodmont. It's poorly designed and makes everything worse both for cyclists and drivers. If there's a right way to do something, count on County Government to screw it up and make cost 10X more than it should. |
| A lot of very nasty and hateful people on this thread. Or is it only very few who like the anonymity? |
I think b/c most cyclists are just rich, white and entitled. like the women antagonizing ICE in Minnesota. Most of them have 70K plus EV or 100K+ SUV's at home and bike lanes just suck and are almost always empty |
