Cooking shows

Don't know if this discussion belongs here or in the Entertainment forum.

Do you watch cooking shows on t.v, online, other place?

Which one do you recommend? Why?

What recipes or tips have you gathered from the show and actually tried it in your kitchen? How did it turn out?

I have become obsessed with Great British Bake Off. I resisted it for years knowing how much everyone loves it, thinking I wouldn't enjoy a cooking show, but I love it and have even started baking -- something I never thought I'd do.

I am a boxed Mac & cheese girl so never make recipes real cooks use because that's too hard and too much work. But I enjoy Jennifer Garner's Pretend Cooking Show she does on her Instagram.

This post makes me for early 2000's Food Network- back when most of the shows were actually cooking demos. Rachel Ray of course, but Barefoot Contessa, Tyler's Ultimate, 5 Igredient Fix, EveryDay Italian, and NIGELLA!

I loved those shows.

Now it is all competition shows and things basically feel like paid advertisements for restaurants.

Did Rachael stop because she got tired of cooking pasta in various forms?

I go back further. The Galloping Gourmet and Julia Child. But your point is well taken.

I like America’s Test Kitchen and their spin off.

Doesn't she still have a talk show or something?

I like the competition shows because I get bored just watching people cook. The competition adds stakes and tension.

I’ve loved watching the Harry Potter wizards of baking competition with my kids. We just got hbo max and it’s been a nice surprise to find a new cooking show there.

Love this show because those competing are all "home bakers," not professional chefs (although they are all really good), and, most importantly, they all support each other. It's not cutthroat at all, they are all so nice

Alton Brown was my favorite. He explained things so well and I loved his sense of humor.
