| My son is smack in the middle of our daughters… we have a lot of books we read that feature animals as the main lead, etc but we read one book tonight that showed a little boy and he said “oh is that me?” Super excited about it. Just curious if there’s anything out there like that. I just noticed he got really into it. |

Here are some of my family's picture books that include male babies/boys/men.
Harold and the Purple Crayon The Snowy Day Baby Brains by Simon James Traction Man Meets Turbo Dog This is the Van that Dad Cleaned Too Many Toys My Freight Train by Michael Rex I Love My Daddy Because (this is mostly about animal dads) Aladdin is a common fairytale that you might find. Peach Boy/Momotaro is a Japanese version. A lot of Russian fairytales start out with a peasant boy going on quests. I believe the Magic Tree house chapter books are about a boy and a girl. Kids often start reading those in 1st grade. The Little House on the Prairie series has one volume about Almanzo Wilder's childhood. There is at least one picture book story made from Farmer Boy. It summarizes the story of his birthday as a young farm child. It's called "A Farmer Boy Birthday". There's another called "Winter on the Farm". Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Two that are popular but that I don't like are: Where the Wild Things Are (origin of Labubus) Alexander's No Good, Very Bad Day There are a lot of early reader paperbacks about famous men (George Washington, Henry Ford, etc.) |

DP but that's a great list by PP. Also have a 4yo DS and am getting some of these.
Alfie Gets In First is a big hit at our house. And also A Ghost Named Fred. |
| What Should Danny Do series. |
|
Original PP.
Forgot to mention "The Mitten" by Jan Brett which is also mostly about animals but has a young boy protagonist. We have a board book of this but it comes in a picture book format as well. |
| Frog and Toad sometimes works well for my 3.5-year-old. We don’t really have “boy books” or “girl books” in our house—we have good books that we read to both of our children (a boy and a girl) |
|
You should be reading all different types of books. Just because a character in a book is a girl doesnt make it a girl book. Have your daughter read the same books as your son.
This gendering of items is why some kids struggle with gender identity when they’re older. Our society genders everything. A book is a book. |

This is a fantastic book that stars a little boy
All of Me! A book of thanks https://a.co/d/5VuFsbd |
Just stop. Obviously OP has a variety of books. Nothing wrong with looking for some with a little boy male protagonist. People ask this question for girls all the time. |

Thomas the Tank Engine Books
Berenstain Bears Arthur books Curious George Jan Brett books Magic School Bus Waldo Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs Nonfiction vehicle books Hot wheels I Can Read series Little Bear books |
| My boys loved smash crash (the whole series) and the pigeon books, as well as Dr Seuss and similar era rhyming books. |

I had girls, but we read books about boys, too. Here are some you might try:
Picture Books: Alfie series by Shirley Hughes (featuring a preschool boy) Where the Wild Things Are Chapter Books: My Father’s Dragon series Henry Huggins series Flat Stanley series Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle has short stories that focus on both boys and girls, HIGHLY RECOMMEND A lot of children’s books have anthropomorphic characters. While the following aren’t strictly human, they come across as boys: Arthur Lowly Worm by Richard Scarry Little Critter by Mercer Mayer Thomas the Tank Engine Corduroy Sesame Street Characters including Grover, Big Bird, Elmo, etc. Later, when he starts reading on his own, he can try Nate the Great and Henry and Mudge. |
