Aladdin is a common fairytale that you might find.  Peach Boy/Momotaro is a Japanese version.  A lot of Russian fairytales start out with a peasant boy going on quests.

I believe the Magic Tree house chapter books are about a boy and a girl.  Kids often start reading those in 1st grade.

The Little House on the Prairie series has one volume about Almanzo Wilder's childhood.  There is at least one picture book story made from Farmer Boy.  It summarizes the story of his birthday as a young farm child.  It's called "A Farmer Boy Birthday".  There's another called "Winter on the Farm".

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Two that are popular but that I don't like are:

Where the Wild Things Are (origin of Labubus)
Alexander's No Good, Very Bad Day

There are a lot of early reader paperbacks about famous men (George Washington, Henry Ford, etc.)[/quote]
